Right, but they say no outright to "mission based" game modes, which is really what I want and believe we need.

Again, not complaining, just once again making a push to see if I can alter the course of this game for the better.

Yeah.. I'm really disappointed that they only intend to incorporate more generic arcade-style game modes instead of complex missions with actual mission parameters.

You can take this buggy, slow, imbalanced, bad looking Gundam simulator when you pry it from my cold dead hands or when I give up next week when consumables destroys the game.

It took way too long for capture mode to come out, let alone a THIRD game type. With the number of times I have seen suggestion topics for game modes with ZERO dev acknowledgment I have no faith any will be out before August at the earliest. That will probably just be the dropship mode which will be the same as frigin assault now just you get more than 1 mech to use.

That's what I'm afraid of and that's not even CW at all. It's more an insult than anything else.

Replace "drop ship" with "oil rig" and i'd believe it.

Someone, multiple someones actually, need to take some time to read that AtD 33 a little better...

Multiple times questions touched on different game modes and multiple times the response was, we've got some ideas, we're working on it but no ETAs. PGI said there was ONE game mode type they wouldn't be looking at, single player mission style objectives, but they did state that things like defense of a dropship against a team wanting to destroy it is a possibility, which leads to a whole lot of game options, games like TF, RtCW, Tribes/2, BF1942/2142 all had this game type in them with various mutators on how they worked. Defend/Destroy in TF/RtCW, order may or may not matter. Tribes/2 had various defend/destroy by the numbers options and BF1942 had both by the numbers or free style while 2142 had a mix of by the numbers defend/destroy or cap by points combined and apart. Dropship mutator combined with a defend/destroy(btn or free) would be really fun and offers a lot more tactical and strategic play then we currently see...

And they even mention that it's on the table just not soon...

We know next to nothing about CW, PGI has a plan and they don't want us tossing a monkey wrench into the machinery until AFTER they get it working to their own satisfaction first. And we're pretty damn consistant about doing that on anything they tell us is coming...remember? Best for them to get it working and then drop it on us without having told us it will have X and Y and Z and WW but testing discovers X doesn't work as wanted, Y is flat out impossible due to engine issues but Z and WW work exactly as planned! Immediate explosion on the forums, won't matter that the community EN MASS said X was not worth using and Y was just totally OP, the fact that they aren't delivered will be all that matters for the ensuing fecalstorm that the forums would become within minutes...we all know this, including IGP and PGI, so why set it up to happen at all?

That they don't intend to do escort missions does not mean there will be no better game modes.

Escort missions are the devil. And it even says asymmetric missions are a possibility, what's going on here?

agreed... MWO deserves WAY more than deathmatches with a funky capture option... there are tons of options, like more than one capture point...different strategical targets which give different slight benefits for those who claim them... objectives which are designed to be WAY more attractive (income/Xp wise) than plain TDM´s and so on... and this game NEEDS them, especially for 8 man and CW...

A reason to complain is never actually required, even when the complaint is so clearly totally out of accord with the post it is using as its as this one.

Ask the Devs 33, which is the actual thread Kraven was basing his complaint on, clearly states multiple times that different game modes are being looked at including assymetrical modes(defend/destroy) modes. What will NOT be done are single player style missions such as escort which is one of the most hated of all game modes in all MMOs bar none.

So Kraven is complaining because the most hated and least played of all game modes in all MMOs isn't being looked at for MWO....because everything else is being looked at....

But right above that it says asymmetric game modes are possible. You can pretend those are missions.

I do not want a guard the slow *** truck as it takes a predictable path across the map game. That is not a fun mode.. er mission.

I appreciate Paul taking time to answer questions and the random Dev posts here. But, as always happen when people don't communicate, mistakes happen. Paul said in the last "Ask The Devs" that when they expand to 12v12, all of the original maps would move to sizes roughly near Caustic Valley and Alpine Ridge. Yet, in this ATD, he said that old maps wouldn't change sizes. Meh, errors happen and, as he said, things are always changing based on feedback.

Please tell me that's just your theory and not something the devs have actually said. That isn't CW, and if they think it is, then there is no hope for this game's future. I'm trying not to get my hopes too high, but I'm definitely hoping for more than that.

Splitting semantic hairs there and you know it. That was a specific response to a specific question which used the word 'missions' in the question itself. Assymetrical game modes such as defend/destroy ARE missions, especially if the objectives must be taken out in a specific order.

Again, you are complaining about 1 specific type of game play, the most hated type no less, is not being looked at for MWO but OTHER types of game play modes ARE being looked at...

HUH?
