It's been brought to my attention that surprise, surprise... battletech may have made a mistake in it's Japanese Grammar when they came up with the nickname for Nova Cat's Lambda Galaxy. And that perhaps the correct way to say 'Spirit of the Dragoncat' is Nekoryu-No Seishin. Not Seishin-no Nekoryu. Could someone who speaks Japanese please check this for us...

Assuming Nekoryu-No Seishin is correct, Is this the right Hiragana?

Posted Image

In Japan, a meaning called a 魂(ta ma shi i) is most generally used.
精神=魂

'dragoncat spirit'=猫龍の魂or猫龍魂or猫龍の精神or猫龍精神

It is not a mistake.

The original apparently was '精神の猫竜', which would mean 'Dragon-cat of the spirit'. So the original BattleTech version is wrong, and OP is correct.

Note that it's 'Nekoryuu' or 'Nekoryū', not 'Nekoryu'.

I'm a signature maker and I need a translation: ENGLISH to JAPANESE. It's for our member "The Unknown Pilot" and the signature should carry his name in japanese font.

Please translate:

The Unknown Pilot

Thanks a lot!

Just for information: I have translated with an internet translator every word by itself and I'm sure that this is wrong.

Thank you very much for your translation. I got some messages too (with different possibilities for a translation) and I don't know which one I will use. But thanks for you work, it's very helpful.

Yes, it should be Nekoryu no Seishin/Tamashii, 猫龍の精神・魂。

The noun of the word is the soul/spirit, Dragoncat is just a description of said noun. And that is to further elaborate, as many stated 魂 is a better word to convey it's meaning than 精神 cause one might mistaken Seishin for morale/perseverance.

ねこりゅうのせいしん will be your full Hiragana.
