This is my guess and only a guess it will be 2 annoucements open beta and the 12th mech at e3. And tbh it looks like the mech is either a timberwolf/madcat b/c if you look at the blurry pictures they look like a timberwolf or a maddog/vulture. The gray picture i ment are from battle tech pods 4.10 which a timberwolf/madcat was in the game.

Nope..as timberwolf/madcat is a clan mech and no clans mechs are going to be in game at launch...

Who did Artemis kill in mythology?

Orion, I believe it was....

Orion was her hunting companion who was accidentally killed either by Artemis or by Gaia.

never know... we might be in for a treat and get a set of mech. With everything the DEVS have given us up till now, i would not put ANYTHING past them. And I mean that in all due respect as a great thing!

This^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

It's possible by the picture in picture movement that there is a base picture under the others we simply can't see. This would mean the overlaying pictures are there simply to throw people off. It's also possible that the whole Artemis=Artemis FCS is supposed to be a clever way to hint at the answer, but also throw of a large number of decrypters off. The Orion is definitely a special mech in that it's easy to repair(repair cost reduction), it's possible to add a DCC(doubt we would see it implemented in-game, but it would still be cool to see/use), and that this is the same type of mech that A.Kerensky preferred as a command mech(from what I found on sarna), but that alone doesn't warrant a countdown timer and crazy stuff like this.

IF this is the case, it could be announced as the 'launch mech'. By this I mean it could be the last mech they confirm before/during MWO beta launch(Next phase- wave of invites). If so, there could also be multiple mechs announced with it. I'm probably wrong, but this is a possibility.

Wild idea crossed my mind; screencap of the game launcher or title screen. Would be extra troll-y too, set to drooling over something we can't have yet. XD

Okay, I know it's only a couple days away, but has anyone started to put each day's screen next to ech other? I'm beginning to think that they're not rescrambles but sections. Those rings are looking like they should match up.

Artemis seems to be some kind of ARG (Alternate Reality Game)

There's a subsect of gamers who enjoy these puzzles and mind-bending challenges. And usually, they are rewarded with something cool if they find the answer. But for me, it simply isn't worth all the work; there's a reason why I'm not big on puzzle games. ;)

The Artemis page is all 'behind the scenes' scripts so you cannot get anything more out of it than what is presented.

As expected, more panels appear to be aligning as the image is 'decrypted' so each new iteration will allow more refined speculation. The two light overlayed lines do not form concentric circles so now it leads me to think of a stylized Comstar watermark.

i know that in BT Artemis is the name of a fire control system for missiles that improves accuracy, but there's no telling what it's going to be here

so your saying the mech will likely be a missile boat? Here's hoping for madcat and madcat 2!

Has anyone been paying attention to the mechbay in the background? 'Cause I could swear that the Atlas wasn't being repaired yesterday.

Artemis IV gives missiles ground avoidance abilities as well as better turning and homing.

Well, if you want to be canonical about it, Artemis works by using an infrared laser to "paint" the target and a microwave transmitter to send real-time guidance correction data to launched missiles, allowing them to home in better on their target. (Of course, you still have to hit.)

It's also notable as doing jack-diddly for indirect fire, since you can't paint something the laser can't "see". For that sorta thing, canonically you've got semi-guided LRM's, which home in on someone else's TAG system, or NARC, which sticks a beacon on the target for missiles to follow.

Does anyone have all the originals that *haven't* been vandalized by the community already? No cropping, no scaling, etc.

Specifically, looking for the unmodified version on the right. I have 3 original images right now, there's only 4 so far, correct?

Keep in mind that while Artemis is a good missile system it comes with its problems and those problems are money and weight.
in order to use Artemis systems, EACH Missile pod... whether its a single LRM/20 or 2 LRM/20 packs, EACH must have an Artemis system connected to it. AND you then must have special Artemis designed munitions to work with the system which are heavier and more money than your standard missiles.

Repeating myself from a different topic on the same subject.

Wow debate on this has calmed down quiet a bit from when it first came out. Well my thoughts on last night were a bust. When I saw yesterdays image I thought that it sort of looked like a bulls-eye, or target. Then my mind got to placing puzzle pieces together.

1. Artemis in mythology she is the goddess of the hunt, and her primary weapon is a bow. A bow uses arrows for ammunition.
2. "Artemis" IV is a type of missile guidance system.
3. Archers shoot arrows at targets

This lead me to think of the Arrow IV missile system, which I believe can be equipped with Artemis guidance system. Then I thought to myself well were looking for an Assault mech between 80-100 tons around circa 3049. One which could fire missiles, and might have a curved nature.

Victor - 80 ton mech that fires srm-4. Its head has a round profile, and so does the suits shoulders, under the armor.
Zeus - 80 ton mech that fires LRM-15 and has round shoulders.
Stalker - 85 ton mech that fires lrm 10 and srm 6. Lets face it most of this suits body is round.
Cyclops - 85 ton mech that uses lrm 10 and srm 4 its head is roundish.
Dabooku - 90 ton mech that uses lrm 10 and its shoulders are round.
Longbow - 85 ton mech that uses lrm 20 and lrm 5. Arms are circular and very big targets.

Uncertain mechs

Thug - 80 ton mech that uses srm-4, not sure if theres anything round or circular on this mech.
Highlander - 90 ton mech fires uses lrm 20 and srm 6. it looks like it shoulders are partially curved, and near its kness looks curved.

Interesting Evex. If you take into consideration that they chose artemis from greek mythology, would they stick to the Zeus/Cyclops to continue the trend? Or perhaps it's only a coincidence.

If they're ( the devs) want a literal meaning to this little puzzle of theirs then I only see three mechs out of that list fitting the build.

Zeus - Artemis father in greek mythology
Cyclops - a type of monster in mythology with a single eye. I believe the eye was its only known week point, unsure on this though.
Longbow - its a type of bow used to shoot an arrow over greater distances.

My only other guess at this point is the white lines don't represent one image, but pieces of a larger image. The white lines themselves being outline of parts of the intended battlemech, since they've all been curved in nature for the most part. Its most likely we're looking for an 80-100 ton battlemech circa 3049 with some sort of curved nature in its design. Even if you ignore the missile bit the list I provided still fits that nature.

Edit:

if we look at it from a different perspective you could also single out the highlander. The highlander being a region in Scotland and if I remember my history right part of the British empire during medieval Europe. Its most likely they used bows in that region in there day to day lives to some extent.
