...but this time from the perspective of a Light pilot.

The past 6 games I got legged, disarmed and one-shot killed. These 6 games have been the shortest I ever played. Couldn't see it coming, death out of nowhere.

Something is definitely wrong.

No, I am not a 3L pilot. I play Spiders almost exclusively.

I think State rewind helped solve the problem with Lag shields, but it took us into another extreme.

Not so sure about that. Sounds like you are just getting hit now, instead of being saved by the lagshield.

Besides, did you think things were going to get better for lights once they implemented this? lol

Just wait till knockdowns come back too, that will be an interesting day on the forums.

I didn't seem to have an issue on my Ravens, but my friend was complaining about being annihilated almost immediately every game and he plays spiders and commandos. I'll test more tomorrow.

QFT. You're not superman anymore. You're a light mech. Don't expect to survive open confrontation, and don't expose yourself to LOS weapons thinking you're invincible.

Edit: I played my Trollmando-2D for a game or two yesterday and I didn't notice myself getting killed. In fact I did quite well in it. I didn't notice the state-rewind crampin' my style at all.

We are all very sad that you no longer can freely run circles in open ground without any worry of being destroyed. Maybe it's time to learn how to play?

Working as intended.

The extreme of being able to actually hit what we aim at? That's not an extreme, that's 'working as intended'.

I guess as a light pilot, you'll need to focus more on identifying targets and weapon payloads before you expose yourself too much. Also, PGI stated that they might rebalance damage numbers if it turned out people were dying too easily.

Oh, you mean all those shots that would have not registered before are hitting you now and you're dying because of it?

If there is a spectrum with extremes, I think it would be:

[A] hit when fired upon ------------------[B] varying degrees of lagshield----------------------- [C] total lagshield

To say point [A] is an unwanted extreme is crazy. As an occasional light pilot myself, I'd like my hits to register on other lights better.

Sounds like the lag shield went away and you need to be a bit less kamikazi.

Having people able to actually shoot you, if they aim where you are, isn't really an "extreme".

It's "how the game is supposed to work."

Light mechs are actually still immensely strong. You just need to actually maneuver now, and not depend on the lag protecting you.

Non-streak lights actually benefitted from this change to some extent, as they are now able to consistently land damage on 3L's.

I know it isn't happening to Commandos... well... it isn't happening to me in my Commando. I mean I can tell I am getting hit more often than before but that means I have gone back to using cover better and more aggressive weaving and dodging. I am not getting annihilated almost immediately. Then again I've been running around in Commando's since Closed Beta and lag shield got bad.

To be honest, I didn't really notice much difference in my laser effectiveness last night. There were several posts yesterday about how lasers now feel like they're doing 2x damage, but that has not been my experience. They feel the same as they always have as far as I can tell.

Same here, but to be fair, my ping never gets higher than 40. The only noticable lagshields I ever saw were players with 200+ ping.

And Lo! did the mechs of light weight stride across the battlefield without fear as they were ever wont to do, barring the mythic days of knockdown.

And yet did they find that their powers of old did not stride beside them as shieldbearer.

And they did suffer the wrath of the mechs of heavier weight, who did wait unto that very day to unleash their terrible retributions upon their tiny plagues.

People will just flame you to death in this thread  while the only light that was causing anyone problems when being piloted by noobs is the 3L (and to other lights the 3L & 2D).

State Rewind was not meant to help Light pilots.

I just know that yesterday when I held 4 large pulse lasers on the rear CT of a moving raven, and the raven actually went down in one shot, I nearly cried tears of joy that the game actually rewards skilled aim now.
