^^ topic title.

Why this claptrap before a generic and useful mouse sensitivity adjustment option?

It is a a bit of help for the JS ers, and it was a damn long time in coming TYVM. Learn to read the docs in the forums as for helping yourself with a user.cfg Hack. I did

I'm reading through this thread and thinking about about how happy I am to have a mouse and keyboard with mapping-software...

Yeah, just change your mouse settings every time you use another application.
If it still were the 80s, that would be a perfectly fine idea. ;-)
Sorry, didn't intend to be mean.

A lot of modern mice have sensitivity controls on the device itself. Mine does. They aren't even that expensive.

Because anyone with a mouse that was made in the last 7 years has built in mouse sensitivity adjustment options?

To say nothing of those of us with gaming mice that can adjust sensitivity on the fly without even tabbing out of the game.

I thought everyone knew that mouse sensitivity adjustment in Windows does not work in the game? That's why people use user.cfg to adjust it.

I seriously think it's the biggest flaw in the new user experience.

Funny, the dpi adjusting on my razr works just fine in game.

In reality, it may be as simple as they cannot fathom why someone playing a modern day Online game would not have a Mouse that is not self capable in that area. Mine does, and it cost $10.00.

Just a thought.

As opposed to fathoming why someone playing a modern day online game would touch a joystick with a 10 foot pole. Not everyone stuck in the past is a joystick jockey.

That's your mouse driver giving different sensor information to windows. He's talking about the windows mouse controls which are software.

"buy a different mouse" is a terrible answer to the question of "why isn't a basic user control that's been in every single game since the early 90's isn't in this one". It's the kind of answer that makes PGI look pretty scrub tier.

I can't use the DPI buttons on my mouse and it sucks! I want that fixed as well as the other issues that this game has, oh wait it's in BETA, could be a while.

This Beta game sells mechs that cost as much as Starcraft: Heart of the Swarm (a brand new game).

The word "beta" is thoroughly meaningless here.

I'd use my old X52 throttle for throttle and turning in conjunction with the mouse for torso and arms if I could find the damned thing. One of my exes must have thrown it out at some point. I'm gonna have to go off and buy a new hotas setup.

You just keep telling yourself that. You may eventually even begin to believe it yourself.

Or maybe you should be looking to the manufacturer of your mouse for such "fixes". There are hundreds of different companies who make them and therefore should be responsible for the software to do what you are asking for.

OP: Because real Mechwarriors use Joysticks, pedals and throttles.

I can't wait until support improves a little so I can start using my hotas.

beta test

noun

1. Psychology . a set of mental tests designed to measure the general intelligence of individuals unableto read and write adequately or at all, used by the U.S. Army in World War I.

2. Computers. a quality-control technique in which hardware or software is subjected to trial in the environment for which it was designed, usually after debugging by the manufacturer and immediately prior to marketing. Compare alpha test.

Yeah, I'm not the delusional one here. This game has been released. BETA just means "it's ok if it's bad, give us more money". This game is in a feature incomplete alpha state, is asking to be beta tested, but was marketed and sold as released months ago.

Speaking of, why can't we map the mouse anymore? We could do it back in CB.

We can't? Admittedly I last mapped my mouse4 and mouse5 to weapon groups 3 and 4 back in CB, but those mappings still work.

No it was marketed as early access to a feature incomplete beta product. Your expectations have changed your perception of reality.

No, reality has changed my perceptions of reality. You don't go free to download to the general public, market yourself in every possible publication, and SELL THINGS FOR MONEY, in beta. No other product on earth works that way, and this one is no exception. You're just getting suckered, which given your gold status means this isn't the first time they've done it to you.

If they didn't sell things? Sure. Open beta. But they sell things, and at that point it's a released product by both law and common sense.

One of those questions... ;-)
Why do we have so many camo options and can't map our mouse-wheel?
Why is so much manpower invested into creating an automated match maker, when almost everyone would just want the possibility to manually launch against other teams?
Etc... ^^

We used to be able to. Back in CB I know my Zoom was mousewheel up and my acquire target was mousewheel down.
