Well done -- for $350 USD, that's quite a good deal, and would be even in Euros as well . That CPU alone (used) is worth over $130. Video card around $150. I'm assuming that you play @ 1080p, based on the monitor in your link.

Since you're an X58 user, the only upgrade I'd recommend is either:

• Better CPU cooler for OC'ing your I7-970 to 4.0GHz+ (preferably 4.2+)
  
• Buying a used Xeon processor (X5670 or better) to take advantage of the extra cores/threads (I'm using an x5670 right now @ 4.2Ghz)

Either option (preferably both, if you can spare the cash) should keep you happy for the next 2-3 years. SSDs are also a great upgrade option, especially now that good, earlier-grade models are available for cheap (I've seen 512GB-1TB SSD drives from reliable manufacturers for under $200).

I started playing Mechwarrior 2 back in the day and a handful of Battletech games over the years, so while I'm still pretty new to MWO, I'm not to the universe. I have a PC I built in 2012 that finally received a round of updates to get it gaming worthy this year.

The original build contained:

It really wasn't built for gaming since I went with the onboard Intel HD 4000 graphics but over the past year I made the following upgrades:
Additional 2 x 8 GB G. Skill DDR3 RAM and turned XMP on.
EVGA NEX750B PSU
WD 1TB Blue Sata III as the main system drive
Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 CPU fan
EVGA GeForce GTX 260 (Gifted by a friend to play MWO and lived long enough to get me remembering how much fun I had playing stompy mech combat sims)
Thermaltake Armor case (Also gifted to fit the video card)
Logitech Attack 3 joystick (left hand - steering, throttle, jets, etc)
UtechSmart Venus MMO Gaming Mouse (right hand- weapon groups, comms, inserts, etc)
2x 120mm & 2x 90mm case fans
Headset

Finally, after the GTX 260 died I replaced it with a Gigabyte R7/370.

Outside of enabling turbo boost with XMP, I don't overclock since I never invested the time to learn that aspect of hardware (I bought the K edition in case I wanted to learn). I get good frame rates at the highest resolution my monitors support and my none of my CPU cores go above 65C since I upgraded the fan.

My goal is for this system to last until, at least, whatever Intel announces after Tiger Lake in 2019/20. Then I'll think about what my next build will look like and when.

I bet your rig won't even need 750 watts, that would be 50% out what your psu is capable of. And at 50% load the psu is operating very inefficient too.

That is correct, most power supplies are most efficient at the 50% load range. The whole 80+ rating on power supplies is based on that.

I think it has been shown that PSU's are more efficient when drawing 75-80% of their total wattage. Check Johny guru.... I am sure the have said this in the past.

Decided it was time to get some new hardware. Nothing fancy, but had a psudo-decent boxing day sale at a local store so I got;
Asus Z170-A motherboard
Intel Core i5 6600K
2x 4GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2666
Cooler Master N300 case

And reused the PSU, both 320gb Seagate HDD's and my EVGA GTX 660. Old stuff was uh.. whatever MoBo came with the eMachines PC I originally had with a Core 2 Quad Q6600 and 4x 1gb DDR2. I averaged roughly 20 FPS unless I was in a brawl or a light - then I hit like 13-15 FPS. On the lowest graphics settings possible at my monitor's native resolution. Good times.

MWO:Mercs settings to the highest I see 120fps
Ghost Recon Wildands 1080P ULTRA Settings I get low to high 60's
Plays EVERYTHING at ULTRA settings in 1080P with 60 or more FPS. Some older games I get 100+ at Ultra. Cost me $1600 to build.
