^^ topic title.

Why this claptrap before a generic and useful mouse sensitivity adjustment option?

They should lower the default mouse sensitivity at the very least. It would do wonders for the noob flailing that we see.

One of those questions... ;-)
Why do we have so many camo options and can't map our mouse-wheel?
Why is so much manpower invested into creating an automated match maker, when almost everyone would just want the possibility to manually launch against other teams?
Etc... ^^

The mech's arm and torso have a maximum turning speed that differs from mech to mech.

Cant you adjust mouse sensitivity in windows and other mouse software? Last I checked any mouse can be adjusted in the control panel in windows.

Because most people can adjust mouse sensitivity outside of game. At the moment it's only a slight inconvenience.

In reality, it may be as simple as they cannot fathom why someone playing a modern day Online game would not have a Mouse that is not self capable in that area. Mine does, and it cost $10.00.

Just a thought. :P

Because unlike your standard FPS, additional mouse sensitivity doesn't change how fast your mech can turn and aim. These are capped maximum speeds which vary from each chassis and variant to the next.

Also, it appears that the system utilizes your base system mouse settings. So just make adjustments to your desktop if you want to tune it a bit.

Yeah, just change your mouse settings every time you use another application.
If it still were the 80s, that would be a perfectly fine idea. ;-)
Sorry, didn't intend to be mean.

The more experienced part to the community knows how to change the settings in the user.cfg.
The more "noobish" part certainly doesn't. It would do the beginners more good to change their mouse-speed to a sensible setting than those 34 different "center X to Y"-keymapping clutter. That's the real problem.

No, it's to help ease the new players into the game. People who have never played a MW title expect to stop when they release the w key. They also find it difficult to effectively use the two targeting points afforded by having arm movement decoupled from the torso.

Not sure who you were "not trying to be mean to" but I would guess me.

FYI, I do not have change anything between Applications/Games etc. I just click the "other" button, to reverse the "one" I clicked to get the Mouse sensitivity, in game, the way i like it.

It is the true marvel of a modern day multi-button Mouse. Works the charm as well.

If you have only a 2-button mouse, hopefully with a scroll wheel, then perhaps and upgrade would be order. Seriously. :P

Oh you guys and your $5 mice that don't have on-the-fly sensitivity buttons and 3rd party drivers.

The whole point of customer service is that we should not have to.

However, if there are legit in-game concerns about torso twist speed and such, I will do so.

Because PGI is badly managed, and cannot into priorities.

Speaking of, why can't we map the mouse anymore? We could do it back in CB.

also:

  • Mouse sensitivity; Go to ~ C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\User Config, and add the following lines

    i_mouse_smooth = 0
    i_mouse_accel=0
    cl_sensitivity = 0.2

    The last figure (0.2) can be adjusted to taste, the default value is 1.0.
