Now that I've nursed two brands of tin cans to adulthood (master), I feel a slight fatigue doing it all over with yet another pepsi, just to have something to aspire to. Don't get me wrong, I'll keep playing and I love blowing up stuff just for the sake of it but I can't help but feel that a goal at this point would be nice. I don't have a great idea of what it should be and of course I do not want magical 5+ Lasers of Ulitmate Destruction being handed out to persistent jockeys...but something just to feel that we are evolving and moving forward should help out a lot. Am I alone in this train of thougth?

I honestly think PGI screwed up on end game material.

They cant add more perks that make you stronger, as there is already way too much of a stretch between someone in a mastered mech and someone in a trial, especially as the stupid Elo system isn't keeping these people separate.

What they should have done is made it so you unlocked chassis as you go.

Yeah well it is a complicated issue that I suppose other MMOs fight with as well - how to award persistent users without alienate newcomers? In my case I feel I just need something meaningful to aspire to, not necessarily something that gives me an edge but a meaningful goal. Like I said earlier - I don't have a clue what it should be though.

they could have it so you unlock paint jobs or cockpit items.

About that, I rememeber playing Gunship on the Amiga millions of years ago and getting those medals (not flimsy achievments, shiny medals!) was our main objective and bagging that Congressional Medal of Honour was a *****, I can tell you. So how about that? Hard-like-hell, multi-layered objectives over long time to get that shiny thing, that also should be displayed in your cockpit? It worked then, what has changed?

I agree totally. I have over a couple hundred thousand of dormant EXP and enough C-Bills to buy anything I want. That being said, I have a hard time finding reasons to come back to the game other than I'm bored and feel like popping off a few quick matches to kill some time.

This is why we launched the Marik Civil War - http://housemarik.enjin.com/

Community warfare goes a long ways toward maintaining interest, even if it's just player generated CW

Agreed. At the moment there is no long term goal of any kind involved.

I suppose they will get around to adressing this eventually. Hopefully I am still around when it finally happens.

Loot! You nailed it - something you get from a successful fight, something randomized. But what?

Btw, this last fight got me to 22,418 xp, so I can unlock the last slot in my master tree - again. And really, why should I? It won't give me even a pat on the back, It'll just light up a square on a screen. I might be simple but not that simple, I need more!

What ever happened to playing a game because it is fun and not because there is a carrot on the end of a stick

Eh. In a general sort of way, I'm planning to build towards owning one variant of every chassis. In actuality, I'm just playing 'cause I like shooting 'mechs, and I want to be in practice when the Jagermech comes out.

I guess if you absolutely NEED a reason to play, you could try to get all your weapon accuracy stats over 90%

visible here- http://mwomercs.com/...ats?type=weapon

Or join a clan in some sort of organized tournament, though I understand those are difficult to arrange these days. But really, if you enjoy playing the game, why do you need a reason?

This game will never be a mmorpg where you can go nuts on finding goals lol. In your case, I would take a break. And come back in 1 or 2 months or so.

Don't be so harsh. Playing games for the sake of having fun is oldschool stuff. Nowadays it's all about achievements to show off and brag about what you did accomplish in the game. Getting to the point where playing a game almost becomes a second job.

All trolling aside though:

The game lacks long term motivation, but that's something the devs are aware of and working on with CW. The loot idea would be a good one if this game wouldn't have to appeal to casuals aswell. I'd love for a system that mimics the progress in the single player games: New stuff is salvaged from the mechs you kill. You have to make enough CBills to maintain your mechs and so on. But that stuff obviously is much too complex for those just playing an hour a week. Which I can understand. On top it's hard to figure out a system that is fair, balanced and unable to be abused.

Edit:

Aside from that I think having weekly ladders for solo droppers AND groups of 4+ would be a cool and motivating thing. But for the group stuff obviously some work has to be done to track the progress of a certain group of players.
