Or does it just try to replicate removing them by upping the saturation?

More along those lines. It adds back saturation and applies additional AA and contrast. At least with rgreats config. Resulting in a more colorful game with more sharpness and better contrast. I also set Post Processing ingame to low in order to switch off the distance blur. resulting in overall better visibility of distant mechs (if they are rendered, which depends on your object detail and environment detail settings).

No AA in my SweetFX config.
I use Sharping, Staturation and Contrast.

ok I got it to work... I'm not really sure what happened but... I copied all the files from Guru3d into MWO like normal... Then used your files in the complete version and overwrote them. Works fine now and with your colors, ect... Thanks for sharing with us.!!!

I decided to drop most of user.cfg and Engine\Config tinkering as it seems that most of current default settings already make sense.

Complete package is not longer limited to high end computers only as you can set ingame graphics detail settings as you want.

SweetFX cfg is tweaked a bit.

All files updated.

Important!
For these who have older versions of PrettyMWO pack: you will need to remove MWO\Engine\Config directory.

Also as a note:

Most FPS impact coming from setting Environment Detail from low to medium!

Funny thing: i was not able to see much of a difference between low and very high there.
Only minor lighting difference. Minor! For about 60% FPS increase.

So feel free to set Environment Detail to low, while keeping other stuff to maximum.

I just tried this today, and while it does generally improve the looks of mechs and the environment, I noticed it made the HUD look weird in some places.

Alas, I ended up having to remove the SweetFX files because it completely prevented my teamspeak overlay plugin TSNotifier from working at all. I don't know of the TS Overlay plugin has the same problem but if you use SweetFX and notice your overly doesn't work suddenly then you should just not use SweetFX

My mod does not modify client files, except of user.cfg which is allowed.

Can you clarify which part of my mod is prohibited?

Mod summary for reference:

Quote

Custom user.cfg including:
Field of view increased a bit (75 degrees)
Night vision & thermal views made a bit more eye friendly.

Removed Film Grain effect.
SweetFX files in proper directories.
Custom "Full Effect" SweetFX config.

I am wondering as well. There are lots of user.cfgs posted. He also only redacted your first post. There are still other links in this thread.

You are welcome to continue your discussion regarding visual effects in MWO. However, we ask that you do not post links designed to assist other users in the modification of their MWO game client files. The OP's link to a custom package for MWO has been redacted for this reason.

http://mwomercs.com/...wo-game-client/

Q: May I use graphical enhancements through third-party applications, such as SweetFX or other CBar modifiers to enhance my graphical performance?

A: We do not encourage the use of these types of modifications and in particular should we detect the use of any modification that does any of the following we reserve the right to suspend/ban the account responsible.

So using SweetFX is OK by the dev's (or whoever makes the BAN decisions) point of view?

Is the config file for SweetFX in the OP the absolute best settings with no regard for performance?

And could someone paste their user.cfg with those other changes since the link was removed for some reason?

Thanks

Interesting work you're doing. Props to the devs for allowing it, as it skirts a few rules. My machine is currently "teh sux" (1st gen i7 and a 260gt). I may give it a try before migrating to a better system.

Then this would be deleted outright, as they can't enforce game file usage. It's not recommended, as you can hose your install very quickly if you don't know what you're doing.

The fact that this post exists means that okay. Just keep in mind what I said. There is risk involved.

So sad that DX11 messes sweetFX up.... it helped to update sweetFX, especially using the 1.5 standard settings made it playable again.
But the fonts still seem a bit off, the buttons in the mechlab suffer from pixelation as it seems.
Does anyone of you found out how to retain sweetFX in all it's glory?

The pixellation (on fonts) is because you use a very bad Post processing AA method. SMAA/FXAA are great on a screenshot, in game. Not so much.

Yeah its the only AA that affects HUD etc. It makes games look fugly.

Looks like for those of you who took advantage of SweetFX may be out of luck. I've heard from several sources that it doesn't like the Dx11 updates.

Damn you worthless film grain and brown filters!!!

I didn't mess with the settings, since everything other than the 1.5.1 standard settings resulted in a black screen when using sweetFX, i just used the standard preset.

So, using SMAA and FXAA are bad, I guess your advice would be to rely solely on the ingame postprocessing.
Is it viable to force the graphics driver into AA, like using TXAA (obviously nVidia-card in use here)?
