How many games would it take to get the most expensive mech in game (atlas or one of its variants), if you win all your games?

Anyone already in the closed beta will have experience with at least some of the mech chassis available; will those who gain access on July 17th have a chance to test any mechs before making their final decision on which mech they want as their premium founder's mech? Would be very disappointing to permanently pick an Atlas and discover they are too slow/clunky for one's tastes or playstyle.

On this theme, for how long will Founder's packages be available for purchase? Will they continue to be sold past July 17th, after the game goes to open beta, or even for a short period after launch? I would be greatly reassured if I had a chance to try the game in general and evaulate the Founder's 'Mech choices specifically before buying. (After all, that's sort of the whole point of the F2P model, yes?)

Looking at the pictures of mechlab again, I thought a bit more about the "MercHQ". I want to ask what's its purpose. Is it a merc hiring terminal for us to hire them to help us (great houses) in our conquests? Putting bills on some acomplishments (mini quests)? Or does it serve a completely different function?

I would greatly appretiate your answer. Thank you.

Of the 2000 Beta keys given out, how many have actually been redeemed?

How are the servers holding up under load so far?

How far along is the meta-game development?

When will we get a meta-game info dump?

What are the negative side effects of having an XL engine?

Can players change the internal structure of their mech (from regular to endo, from endo to regular), despite this being, logically, a complete redesign of the entire skeleton of the mech?

We haven't really seen a demonstration of a heat-intensive mech quite yet, however I'm a little concerned regarding the current value of armor and how it affects the energy vs. ammo-driven weapon balance. With armor being roughly doubled, this would mean that players would need to use an entire ton of autocannon ammunition to breach the chest armor of an Atlas, since the ammo per ton has not changed from TT values from what I saw in the Mechlab demonstration. A pair of PPCs would give a similar punch to an AC20 for about the same weight, and heat sinks instead of ammo would help keep things more manageable.

With that in mind, it seems that it will be not only more expensive to keep your ammo bins filled, but it seems that you will also need to bring along more ammunition to ensure that you have the staying power needed to brawl, resulting in less potential firepower or even being slower/less armored than an energy-based equivalent as you need the tonnage from somewhere. My fear is that this will lead away from using ammo-based weapons at all, and reduce the game to pure energy matches where basically everyone sticks near to cover, pops out and fires, then retreats while waiting for their heat gauge to run down.

I suppose my question is, have the playtests and closed beta matches indicated that there is any real trending away from the use of ballistic weapons when people are modifying their designs?

Hello! Firstly, I would like to give a big thank you to PGI for continueing to work so hard to provide us with a great game to look forward to.

My question is in regards to the way Jump Jets will work on 'Mechs. I understand that we have a hardpoint/critical system in place and that these will change based up on the varient of the 'Mech which we are currently modifying. However, how does this apply to Jump Jets?

The Cataphract is a great example because it contains varients which both use and don't use Jump Jets. For example: I want to modify a Cataphract CTF-1X which doesn't use Jump Jets but the CTF-3D does. Since we have a varient which does have the JJ's integrated, can I then put them on the CTF-1X I want to modify?

Thank you!

Are you planning on adding all (or at least most of ) the canonical mechs to the game over the years? Or do you think there will be a point where adding new mechs just doesn't make sense for there won't be any new configs that aren't already possible? If so, will you still add mechs thereafter just for the "looks" of it? In general, is there a tangible number of mechs you like to have in the game in the end?

What section of the papers do you prefer when ordering fish & chips? Does glossy print help preserve the freshness better than basic paper stock? Who in the office is most likely to order an Ultra Fish&Chips with twice as much fish?

This. But to put things more on the edge - Will you add mechs that have only one or two variants? Some mechs have plenty of variants but the other variants only show up much later than 3049.

Take the Firebee for example which is a very cool mech indeed. Hint hint.

Is the pricing model currently set up, and if so, what are some examples of things available for purchase and about how much do they cost?

  • From dev comments on the forums and devblogs, I've come to understand that there will be some key differences in the way merc corps will be able to manage themselves as opposed to how house troops will function. Can you elaborate on this a bit? e.g. What sorts of tools will merc commanders have available? How will contracts work (single objection or signing on for a longer duration "campaign" with a house?)
  • Will destruction of one or both side torsos result in "coring" of an XL engine?
  • Are SRMs going to have guidance as per canon/TT?
  • Will Flamers produce more heat in the attacking 'mech than the target as per TT, or the other way around?
  • Sensor data for targeting was relayed automatically from the IGN vids. Where does the Battlegrid come into play?
  • Will alternate ammunition like Inferno missiles be available? Will LBX be able to use standard and cluster rounds?

Can you tell us about the Commanders order and battle grid view?

Do Commanders give out candy for reaching Nav points and firing on selected targets?

Will there be House Companies "self-organizing groups inside of Houses?" If not, what is the plan to inflict order onto them?

Will St. Ives ever be included as a possible allegiance? More generally, will there be more factions added after launch (for example, the Clans when we reach 3050), and what level of interactions will players have with the included factions?

It's been implied that different 'Mechs will have varying maneuverability, torso twist speed and angle, etc. Will different 'Mechs also have varying time in their aiming convergence? It seems as though 'Mechs with less human arms or fewer actuators should converge quicker but with less motion independent of the torso.

Is there any way we can apply for an invitation to Irene's party, or would they just come in the mail if we're invited?

Could you talk a little about the after-action economy? By this I mean salvage, repair, etc. the micro vs macro of the metagame.
