Since these are limited edition Mechs, I'm surprised PGI is limiting us to just 4.

None of us are going to know how those Mechs handle/perform, and many of us are going to have a "buyers remorse" So I wanted to suggest a possible resolve:

This goes on the assumption that ALL players will get 1 free Mech (Jenner, Hunchback, Catapult, Atlas)

Turn the "Founder Mech" into a "Work Order" and let it be applicable onto any Mech in your garage.

Let's say I take the Catapult and am playing the game. I then find out I like the Cataphract a lot. I can goto my Mech Garage and use this "Elite Founder Upgrade" Work Order to have my tech crew apply that bonus to that chassis. (A notice would appear saying 'Performing this upgrade will provide a permanent C-Bill boost to this chassis and apply a custom skin. These features cannot be removed from the Mech. Do you want to proceed?)

That way, it allows me the ability to test drive the chassis and to apply that bonus to a Mech that I know I'll be using a lot.

I concur with this idea. I'd like to know at least a little about how the game plays before I choose my founder ride.

That's a great idea. I hope that a suggestion like this is possible.

Agreed. One of the things keeping me from wanting one of the bundles was exactly what OP brought up.

Well, we should have a month of Open Beta before the game launches and those packages kick in. Make sure you try everything!

I like the idea, but.......... looking at it from another perspective , say the guys trying to make a living (DEVS) or the guy who dont have any way of paying for anything, but still plans on playing,
These Mech offer a great deal in just the c-bill or xp boost for a lifetime , but we know that other , maybe better Mechs are coming down the line , otherwise 5 years from now you would still a majority of players using these 4 Mechs ,I just cant see that, even though I plan on getting one or more if they let me, part of it is I want to support the game.

WE, even us players have to support the game as a "Free to play" , careful not to push them into a "pay to win".
yet they need to make money or the game will end.

I really wish they would give use more info on the founders pack:
do we buy it online or in stores?
can we buy more than 1?
can we buy them for our friends?

Well, that's one of the things about BT. The mechs we start with should be viable throughout the entire history of the game. Additional mechs may have different torso twist speeds, different hardpoints, different speeds and such, but a new mech will not just be 'better' then the ones that came out before it.

Which is why I REALLY hope they offer an offline mode where you can take ANY mech you want EQUIP it however you want and take it out into any MAP you want against standing targets. It would allow us to "try before we buy" so that we can be happy with our purchases. ;)

I'm not sure how a CB bonus could be considered P2W, it doesn't really make anyone more powerful. As for the persons who plan on playing, but not paying, they'll just have to come to terms that perks and features like this cost money; and it's OK that they can play the game at no cost, but at the same time, that lack of support means they might miss out on some cosmetics, items of note or certain functionality (of course, never in a way that would be considered "overpowering")

Will there be a set Mech Value?

If an Atlas is 10million Cbills
and a jenner is 3...

If I "founder" my Jenner do I get 7 million in cash? I should...

Game's not even OUT and Viking's trying to get a CARFAX report on his Mech's value already...... sheesh.

I like you idea, but I was thinking that instead of removing it from your catapult, it should just be a conversion you can buy for any mech... but it costs actual money (maybe you get one for free if you buy a founders package or something). If I want all my mechs to earn income faster, what's it hurting anyone else? If I help pay for the game, the devs are happy. I'm playing the mechs I want to pay, so I'm happy. You get to try to kill me so you're happy... WIN-WIN-WIN!

Perhaps its due to the fact that we only have those 4 mechs in the game at the moment and won't get the rest until it goes Gold?

Which is why I suggested it as a "Work Order" It isn't a Mech, but an order to be fulfilled when your Mech of choice is available, you've ridden in it long enough to know it was the one you wanted. It could even have a stipulation saying "This Work Order is limited to the Mechs available when the game goes Gold"

I don't think it should be an item where a person can just buy such a Work Order and apply them to all their Mechs, because it's supposed to be a limited time, 1-per-person bonus to entice $60 purchases. I'm just hoping that the player gets a choice of the Mech they want to apply it to, even though it would mean that PGI would need to create the Inception skin for each one of its Day 1 Mechs.

Dont get me wrong , I like the Idea , its just I think the devs wont want to give so much away , and it is a lot ,"A mech that has a lifetime bonus"and its at the start of the game, we all know this is a great chance , so how to balance a money making game , and keeping out the PTW , its not EZ but limiting the founders Mechs gives them room to sell similar stuff in the future.

I don't really see the OP as suggesting the Devs give anything else away. It's just giving the folks who pay for the founders' package to apply the bonus to a mech after they've had more experience driving them.

if you get the mech that you have decided is the best, then get the c-bill xp bonus for lifetime , mmmm
far far better then getting a generic ,good but generic mech of a weight class but not your favorite?

come on this is a piece of cake and eating it to , an already great deal , and making it better by choosing
your favorite mech , its to good to be true, and it is asking for a lot.

hey if they do it Im there, get me a Raven instead of a Jenny , but I dont see it happening.

i like the idea and while I'm planning on getting the Founder's Package, I don't really like any of the mechs that they're offering.

So the question is, should I just downgrade my order so I don't have to worry about it, or could PGI consider Aegis Kleais idea and get the extra 20 bucks out of me . . .
