I think it all comes down to hitboxes really. Is an XL engine at all feasible, for instance? On paper I really like the Jagermechs. Catapults just got nerfed and I never really liked Cataphracts for wasting 3 critical slots for very small gain in horizontal arm movement (while losing in torso movement) and also having the guns hanging low.

My biggest issue right now... SPLASH DAMAGE!... it seems any LRMs or SRM's that smash into my Jagermech cause my head armour to be stripped due to splash damage and CT homing LRM's because of the CT head hitbox. You can't do this to a Cataphract so what hitbox issues are there with the Jagermech?

Oh and we can't test that because I am yet to find a training ground with the new chassis as should be done for testing purposes.

Second round in the Jagermech, also got killed by a headshot. Same happened to a teammate, and an enemy jagermech that was targeted also nearly died to one. Seems something wrong with it..

At least we know this will be gone in the next path - yes, two more weeks to wait, but better than not knowing what will happen!

I would not be at all surprised if by April 2nd we have a change to the hitbox size. This seems to happen a lot with new mechs - they err on the large side for a while, and adjust down from there.

Seriously PGI, what is with you and making cockpits huge, realizing "oh crap we made it's headshot hitbox huge" then fixing it later?

Yes this thing dies to headshots constantly.

Can we just rename the mech the 'Glassjaw'. I've put the same armor on mine that my Catapult variants have, but it still feels significantly less durable than the Catapult. Should be same armor and same internals if you redid your armor.

Also, everyone running stock armor Jagermechs >_> So annoying how pathetic the stock armor is.

It's great except I don't seem to be getting any stats with it into my "Mechstats" section. Didn't try with other mechs yet or maybe the www-side is still being updated or lags behind...

Already fired off a support ticket but the LRM cluster aimpoint is generally the upper center torso, guess where the Jagermechs head is.... 3 matches resulted in 3 headless Jagermechs even after attempting to spread the damage around, rest of the mech was still intact.. Obviously moving the LRM aimpoint might be a bit over the top, maybe a hitbox reduction and/or reduced area damage to the head might be called for.

It's not just lrms, everything hits this mechs head.

I was thinking we'd call it the Cataphract Mk II release. Since the Jagermech has the exact same problem as the Cataphract when it was released. So damn easy to head shot without even trying.

3 our of 4 mechs released has a head hitbox that is massive, then a couple days later they hotfix it because it was so incredibly broken.

Splash damage.... I'm sure this may have already been mentioned but I am too busy playing to read all the posts. 5 matches in a row I have been nearly headshot in the Jager (ok I know it's pretty easy to hit...) however much of the damage to my head has come from LRMs that have hit me from behind. (Specifically Stalker LRM boats with 3-4 LRM15 racks.) I have been intentionally letting myself get hit by just missiles to see this effect. Anyone else see this?

That's useful feedback. Do they start at the wings, or do they include space inside the wings?

Side torsos are massive, XLs are a deathtrap.

Great for standard engines though.

No, it really can't.
If you load up 36 tons of ballistics, you start to run out of tonnage for ammo/armor/engine.
If the engine gets too small (which it does) you need to spend extra crits on DHS, or go down to SHS.

I could fit (with only slightly low armor) 180XL, 10SHS, 6AC/2, 7tons ammo. No backup weapons. Endo/Ferro/DHS.
You could go to 6tons of ammo, less armor, and DHS, but you'll still overheat terribly.

streak-srms are headshotting the jagermech. i don't think this should be happening..
