The side torsos are huge, makes me cringe at the thought of using an XL in it.

That's all I've been using and I'm averaging about 700 damage a match.

That said, I'm nearly dead every game.

The cockpit on this thing is WAY too easy to murder. Streaks go right for your cockpit, since it's in the center of your torso. Please God move the cockpit up a little.

Outside of head issues, what's your take on the RT/LT size? Viable?

I feel like I'm the only person who hasn't died from headshots but rather from engine failure from my XL engine.

Though, I think I have been headshotting others with my dual gauss sniper build.

Don't you just spread the damage around your mech when you see the big red "MISSILES INCOMING"?

That happened while completely torso twisted to the side and approaching the LRM Mech from an angle.
I've also cockpited enemy Jagers by generally aiming in their direction with AC/20s.

Real reason mechs with XL have CASE is that CASE is also about preserving the life of the pilot from an ammo explosion, not just preserving the mech. That, and even if a mech with XL is disabled, salvage after battle can allow it to be restored to battleworthiness.

ok, that makes sense, for MWO purposes tho, maybe CASE should cause the XL engine to take 50% of it's max HPs in damage instead of letting the mech "die" - also reducing the max speed of the engine?

I'm loving it personally, using the JR6-S with 2x AC5, 2x LL, 2x ML

Endo Steel & XL300 for weight & speed.

Shooting the ACs is incredible with the gun placement over the shoulders! :P

Edit: The guns changing depending what's placed is pretty cool as well, the AC10 & 20 look rawsome!

So you like a Rifleman, don't you?

Post screenshots, please!

Well I think this mech isn't good expectation, with my cn9-D I can kill this in few shoots of ac5,2x srm6 and 2x med laser without I get hit, if you put endo-steel you lose 3 tons(I guess) and you can improve your armor alot but still...

Was in a group of three Jagermechs while I lead in a catapract. I drew the fire (me being me with a giant KILL ME NOW sign on) and they MURDERED everything, it was awesome.
You guys know they will patch the hitboxes, right?

EDIT: No not TS, just a awesome pug match.

I wasn't gonna get one because I'm a Draconis Pilot, but damn...that's one nice looking mech... Will decide after I get home and have a few shots of whiskey (that's how I justify bad decisions I make)

Haven't bought one myself yet but I rather like those hardpoints. Especially the JMD6-A and S... 6 ballistic slots is just overkill on a 65-ton mech otherwise I'd like the DD more.

Ive had maybe 5 matches and so far not liking it; the range of motion just feels like piloting a coffin to me. I'm getting kills just fine, but I think I got spoiled with the speed and maneuverability of my phract.

Someone please do this build and record the dakka: JM6-DD

Set the first to group 1-6, the second to group 2-6 and so on, then fire each group in sequence until you reach 6 where they're all firing in quick succession.

My first couple matches with it weren't that impressive, but after I added Endo and FF, got the armor up to 286 pts, and downgraded the engine to a 250 (max of 62.x kph), while adding an extra ton of AC2 ammo and another of AC5 ammo, as well as upgrading to Double Heat Sinks, it became more fun. I had the engine lying around from an old build so the makeover wasn't too terribly expensive, 2.5 mil about. If I had needed to pay for the engine it would have been four mil, which I probably would have balked at and given up- one ton isn't worth 1.5 mil.

It's a buzzsaw if the opponent is within 500 meters and ignores you, but considering how often you're hitting him he'd be a damn fool not to notice you. You can also be annoying out to a considerable distance. I've had both some of my lowest damage matches and some of my highest ever damage matches with this thing. Even with the extra ammo I still find myself running out, but if I've been moderately accurate I've got 600 damage in pocket before that. I spend a lot of time zoomed in, with thermals on, and this is the first time I've ever considered spec-ing into the sensor range module. I haven't yet, mind, but the Jag has me considering it.

The torso doesn't traverse upward very well. The arms do, though, so I imagine I look really silly when I walk around with my arms as far up as they can go- I can't see where they're pointing, so I must assume they're almost straight up. The cockpit feels squished and small, even more claustrophobic than the Stalker was for me at first, and it cuts off vertical line of sight pretty harshly, considering what the arms are capable of.

Hope that helps people on the fence.

Edit: this was with the JM6-S variant. Also, side torsos are pretty big, this doesn't really feel like an XL candidate to me.

idk i feel like everyone's missing the point with the DD's hardpoints

i feel like it wasnt designed for 6 ac2s, it was designed for this JM6-DD

Not having played ballistics mechs before I was really waiting for the Jager to see how it is. I first went with a 4x AC/2 6-S build but I couldn't make it work very well. The bugged firing rate on the AC/2 really hurt my DPS (compare online vs training grounds, it's huge!) and even if it didn't I, kept running out of ammo before I could inflict as much damage as I'd like, usually getting around 250-300 damage only, which is even worse than with some other weapons as the AC/2 spreads damage around a lot. I really feel like the AC/2 just isn't a very good weapon.

Next I tried 4x LL with 4x MGs and actually did better even though it was a bit of a troll build and because of cost reasons I couldn't even fully utilize the tonnage, weighing only around 63.5 tons.

Finally, it was time to put the AC/5s back on and pair them with a couple MLs and MPLs and the damage started to really go up. I quickly realized the UAC/5 is just plain better, though, installed those instead and went to town, dealing 900 damage in my first game.

Is it better than the Cataphract? I don't know as I don't own any of those, but it seemed to work alright. The side torsos take a beating, though, which makes fielding XLs riskier than I'm used to.

It can put out a lot of damage but it's really fragile, and the cockpit hit box is too big. Back armor is maximum of 10, I've bumped everything but legs to max so I mostly die from back now.
