Lrms Need A Nerf Now

Sure I can stand behind a wall all match, but how long until I am surrounded by 3Ls or in the path of a dakkaphract? I tried maxing my leg armour and it made little difference, I tried putting in an AMS and all that did was add extra damage to my CT when my legs were blown off.
LRMs are a constant annoyance and only fun for the guy firing them. They either need a major nerf to their damage or tracking ability, or the AMS system needs a massive buff.

1 mile = 1,609 meters.
LRM max range = 1,000m.
Also, you really should read the patch note more often to understand what has been happening.
However... you're still new to the game. You'll have a lot to learn. Keep in mind that teamwork are very importance in the game.

I'm not as new or as bad at this game as it might seem from my initial post. LRMs were a nuisance and also very dangerous before this latest patch, but now a single volley is a death sentence for whatever part of your mech it hits.
I am 100% confident that the LRMs are bugged right now though, because their damage is absolutely outrageous.

This. Right now LRMs and SRMs end up doing a lot more damage than they're supposed to because of splash damage bugs. They said they'll remove splash damage for missiles next patch until they fix it.

People were given ECM, AMS, the ability to actually -move out of the way-, to break the locks that LRMs require to actually do damage to targets, a minimum range that extends well into typical combat ranges, and it is still not enough.
Bottom line: LRMs don't need a nerf. They are already the most nerfed weapon in the game. If you are still having problems, with all the game has provided to let you defeat them, then it's your own fault for not using what you have been given. That, or the LRM pilot is simply better than you.

It's probably this, the splash damage on legs from LRM's pre-patch were wrong (doing a fraction of the damage) and now we see the lowest armored part of the mech in many cases suffering the correct (splash) damage ... It's our own faults for droping the armor on 50ton+ mechs legs down to 30+/-.
Solution - Up the armor on your legs to a reasonable level.

Nah something new is broken... LRMs are doing A LOT of damage... like people talking about 1800 damage rounds... levels of damage.
Yep, that's the splash damage bug. It just seems even more extreme because missiles do damage to legs now.

If each leg has 50 armor thats an armor value of 800pts per team that previously were not severly damaged by LRM's and now they are post-patch we are seeing that extra 800pts of damage ... Kinda makes sense i think.

Like Nacon said, you're new, and obviously haven't read the known issues. Missile splash damage is bugged right now, a single missile against smaller mechs, instead of doing something like 2.5, does instead 12 damage, approximately. Only on the smaller chassis though, like Commando, Jenner, Raven, etc., although on a Flame you might feel some effects. Anyway, relax, rant and rave about quitting all you like or not, but the forums are for calm discussion, not flipping out like a ten year old.
