All matters of scale aside it's a really cool addition to the game I think, while I'm still not a fan of being able to jam certain weapons into certain things (AC/20 into MG port) it is a nice looking change. The Jagermechs arms look phenomenal when changed around as well. 2 MGs plus an AC look really neat, even if the MGs are still only good for sounding/looking cool.

It's exciting to think of future changes that will be implemented along these lines.

The trebuchet will change it's lasers around, kind of like the Jagermech, but each laser looks the same so far as I can tell it just alters the number of barrels on your nub.

I love it. but if thats the size of a gun barrel, then my AC/20 hunchback needs some extra armour on that hunch!

I hope this pool of weapon and map assets expedites things in the future.

The best part about all this is it shows, once and for all, that they have no intention whatsoever of adding in Hardpoint Sizes. If they've added in mesh and artwork that allows us to put the biggest gun in the game in a slot "meant for" the smallest gun in the game, then there's no chance of the Hardpoint Sizes that some people have been wanting.

For what it's worth, this is what the gauss barrels currently look like:

(No, I'm not going to equip them just for screenshots - I have no use for a gauss boat in my lineup.)

gauss boat? we are seriously calling a mech using 1-2 of a weapon a Boat now?

sigH.

Better, but for guns weighing 14/15 tons they look downricht puny. Heck compare it to the Centurions right arm even.

Kudos for effort, but totally not impressed with the result.

Centurion is too big; that's an issue unto itself.

This is way better than before, so I'm happy with it.

I am very happy to see this kind of attention to detail trickling down to mechs.

You mean their statements from almost a year ago at the start of the closed beta when they repeatedly said they wouldn't be adding hardpoint sizes wasn't enough for you?

Sounds about right... and quite frankly, if they DO alter these meshes like this, I'm 100% in favour of it.

So long as my side torso actually LOOKS like it's mounting a BFG, I'm happy. And yeah, I know the K2 isn't quite there yet, but it's definitely on the right path.

And the Jagermech is even better!

It was enough for me... but apparently not enough for the people who ask for it in every single AtD that I've seen.

Only on the Jagermechs are there different models for all AC's, Gauss and MG's
Here we go;
MG - Small thin barrel, like on the Raven 4X
AC2 - Short thin barrel, like what you'd imagine a 20mm cannon to look like.
AC5 - Long, and I mean long medium thickness barrel.
UAC5 - Long triple barrel rotary style, shame they don't actually rotate when firing.
AC10 - Medium length, thicker than AC5
LB10-X - Medium length, similar to AC10 but with unique porting on barrel end.
AC20 - Short, thick and nasty looking, massive bore visible.
Gauss - Medium long length with a triangular barrel profile.

Hopefully, they continue along these paths, as it makes playing the mechs more interesting.

I think the K2 should have the ballistics moved to the side pods (arms) instead of in the torso. It would give a better ability to use them over buildings, hills, lights and better ability to aim up and down.

That's what the Jagermech is for.

@itkovian
Take the comment in full context before having a coronary. It would take no more effort to have simply upscaled them than it did to make them in the first place. Scale being one of the easier things to modify. So chill and take your wingless angels with you.

So if I drop a half-tonne and add a small laser to my boomcat, it magically becomes not a boat?
