The best premade teams know that if you want a really easy win, all you have to do is to run along the side of the map that has the most cover so as not to be detected until its too late and pile on the enemy base.

My team(HJ) has even went straight through the middle of the map before to test the effectiveness of this, shooting at targets along the way, without stopping, with the first half of the team capping, while the ones that were behind start fighting to stop the enemy from going to base, or shooting them in the back as they run for the base. This tactic has ALWAYS worked, although it is a rather boring and cheesey way to win so we dont do it anymore. Though there are some other premades that do this all the time. It is more fun to fight. If its more fun to fight, why do we need these half azz bases for? Take them out and let us fight and use scouting and manuever warfare and tactics that otherwise are pointless because you have a base to worry about. Place them back in the game once you have finished constructing actual bases with full defences, or leave them out entirely.

Id say the argument would be "how many games of BT did you play that were 2 lances vs 2 lances and the point wasnt destruction but to cap a place and sit there for a minute"

Doesnt anyone just want to kill enemy mechs without having to worry about some orange square on either side of the map? I know I do.

Video Illustrates exactly what base capping feels like.

http://www.showme.com/sh/?h=Rduy6E4 - This video illustrates why base capping limits tactical options.

What a pathetic poll, and what a rediculous post. Defend your base or suffer the consequences.

it's not Team Deathmatch, so either defend your base or lose. (or rush theirs and win)

I do. And if I don't, I still don't complain about the game mode that allows the other team to capture our base while we are out of position. If you want to force an engagement then you defend, if you want to try for an easy win you rush. Or you send out scouts and look for the enemy and defeat them in isolation.

LoL. I remember the last time an opposing team tried to rush straight up the middle of the map... we stomped those poor ******* so hard it almost wasn't funny.

I was so glad I brought my brawler Hunchie... :D

I guess they didnt know what they were doing... It has always worked when my team did it. And usually quite easily.

so dont do that.

Maybe you should worry about how you play and not everyone else.

We just need more game modes. Assault mode is a viable mode, but it can get a little old with only a few smallish maps.

This has been done over and over again. It's not going to happen.

This game mode is much richer than straight DM.

Base capture is the primary mission in Assault. Deal with it by defending or lose. Same sentence posted 1000 times by now since closed beta.

I voted 3. Anyone else sick to death of this game mode?

I wouldn't say I'm sick to death of it, but its the only option saying I just want more match options.

no... it isnt. Not even close. Anyone who has played team deathmatch in a previous mechwarrior game in a competitive league or setting knows your statement is utterly false. TDM is highly strategic, and tactical, and far more involved than 2 orange squares on a map deciding whether you win or lose.

I did. You are complaining for no reason, with little point. Deal with it, or leave. Your choice. (Not that you care, but I will no longer waste my time in this thread, so don;t bother responding to me)

Eh, if both teams are playing correctly, it is effectively TDM with a mechanic to break stale-mates.
