Is this intended?

Seems they hit the head just as much leaving most of the Battlemech intact.

Again

Is this intended?

I feel they should just completely randomize the locations LRMs and SSRMs deal. It's not like they need you to aim.

They do not target legs. Due to the pursuit logic and descending trajectory, they tend to end up hitting legs more than many other locations on moving targets.

Why not? Lasers and cannons can hit legs. LRM is already underpowered as is since ECM was introduced. A small buff of being able to hit legs and cockpits is welcome.

because ppl were complaining that they hit the CT too often. So PGI spread the damage out more. Now ppl QQ that they hit the head and the legs

I've mainly seen faster mechs get legged, which jives with what you see of missile trajectories.

Watch LRMs chase a faster mech sometime. They end up low to the ground trying to catch up. The only location they CAN hit is the legs.

green beret I appreciate your input and while that analysis is correct with TAG +Artemis on light mechs, I have to say that with this patch the leg damage is absurd and it seems to transfer to the back and the head (maybe with splash).

Its just too much

vader btw in case u didnt know my nev name GB

I'm not positive about the game mechanics, but it seems to me that their "fix" may have many of the missiles that hit the ground doing splash damage to the legs, as well.

No, that's OK. You can go ahead and shove it back where it belongs.

I've had heavies with the leg armor only reduced by enough to even out the tonnage have their legs stripped by a single large LRM barrage. Both legs. On a heavy. At max efficient armor.

I think the leg hits are fine, but the head hits are too frequent.

The LRMs often hit the ground and the splash damage destroys the legs. Simple as that.

Splash damage will be disabled in just two weeks. (on April 2nd). Enjoy your Quad LRM15 Awesomes while it lasts.

You guys are not correct.

My both legs were blown away by 1xLRM15 + 3xLRM5 while everything else stayed on yellow-orangish.

But get this: I was moving slowly TOWARDS the enemy (a Cat). And my leg armor was fine (40-50 on both). The missiles were not chasing me and because of that lower than they shoud be, they slammed my pretty centric and still my legs were blown away.

I hope for the sake of your sanity that your'e trolling.
Here we go again...
A weapon, requiring no aiming skill, that can obliterate targets in 1000-200m range in three shots can't be called underpowered, cause people fail to bring tag with them or actually team play.
Am I that twisted actually? I'm starting to feel there's something wrong with me, not be able to see the things from that kinda people's point of view...
What do you want more from a weapon? The point-and-click adventure seems way too exhausting or hard for you?
Three words:
You mad bro?

You legs can in cover most of the time, even a little cover will protect your leg, but expose half of your mech.

If you're out in the open your legs will take most of the hits because that's half your mech's profile, and much more than that on light mechs. Don't be out in the open, it's as simple as that. On a related note mechs with particularly large head hitboxes can be headshotted with LRMs, especially by jump capable LRM boats. Considering that those mechs are supposed to be support mechs who can match the ranged firepower of any LRM boat, I don't think this is a problem.
