I know it is a matter of time for people to start using their 3D printers to make MWO mechs miniatures.

If there is anyone who did this, please show us some pictures!

BTW: I would buy all these miniatures myself (at least until I got my own 3D printer, which won't be so soon)

Not quite miniiture btw most people that have done it print 5 inch parts and put them together.

I have a cubify at home, however I am super lazy about getting a mech done as it has been busy printing other things. A catapult will take a 36 hour build time given the estimates.

I have a 3D-printer (selfbuilt RepRap, quite proud of it), but would the more obvious solution not be to just buy a miniature from the tabeltop?

It would be obvious if there were MWO miniatures for sale, but there aren't.

Honestly it would only make sense for PGI to partner with Catalyst and Iron Wind Metals to do an MWO Technical Readout and mini line. It would be great cross promotion.

This is illegal. PGI/IGP owns the copyrights to those designs. The best you could do is print it out for yourself, but they could take offense to this as well.

If PGI were to license this, especially for use with the table top, it's not hard. You have to do a lot of clean up and add a lot more detail to the models, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

While the production of miniatures for personal use might be legal (dependend on local laws), selling them would be a violation of copyrights. I strongly advise against it.

That aside, I'm afraid this thread belongs in the Fan-Art forums.

There was one man on the CGL Battletech forum making 3D CAD models of original mech designs (king sandman being the first) and found a company that made those models into minis using a 3D printer. It is possible but you can't give them anything copyright protected.

Imagine printing off like 20 of those things for 3 bucks in plastic and just having a war with them with explosions and stuff. Wait, am I 12 years old?
