I think that has more to do with the SRM6+A is really really good right now rather than LB-X finally being good. The UAC is both lighter than better than the LB-X. Any time I see someone boosting an LB-X build, I always think 'well, yeah, but it'd be even better with UACs and more other guns'.

Yeah, I don't think the LBX is necessarily good despite the good results on that build - if I could shove two AC/10s in there I would do that instead. As far as I can tell, its mostly just that you get to fire your ballistic about twice as much and are still using an alpha-type weapon vs. a DPS-type weapon, and that the LBX's spread is a lot less bad now.

Although the UAC is such a good DPS-type weapon that I think it's the AC/20's main competition for the DDC ballistic slots ;)

I almost always run my DDC with 2 UAC5's, then pick what I want to go with those :-P

After fighting a couple AC40 Jagerbombs in my Atlas can confirm that that build is a monster. Rips armor off like nobody's business.

Is it possible to fit a 20 on each arm of the "starter" jaeger? (S, I think?)

I tried, but it was like I didn't have enough slots or something. Maybe I need to go to the std engine or something?

Ignore everything, there are three effective builds, that make other people rage quit:

2x AC20 49 ammo
2x Gauss 70 ammo
3x U/AC5 250 ammo

All of these use XL engine and endosteel. Once you're done playing the EZ-Mode mech go get a real one.

Unfortunately, no, unless you go for a smaller STD engine. You need an XL for that build. However, you can do great builds with your STD 260 - I'd recommend 2xUAC5, 4xMLasers.

And how long exactly does one expect to last with so little armor?

Honestly, I think you'd exhaust your ammo first, Now that's not to say your armor won't get peeled away quickly but with 4 UACs you're basically a high pressure bullet hose.

This is my actual build for my Jager JM6-A and i have to say it works really well, i usually do al least 450 damage or more (and i'm what is as far as possible for a good player, since i started to play less than i week ago) and i find it really funny to run, but i know this is far from perfect so any idea how to improve it?
*atm i still miss the xl engine, but with the stock one it's pretty much the same with 1 less laser and without the ams*

Besides the 3XUAC5 on my DD, I have been using AC20+2LL on my firebrand.

Been a LONG time since I have used an AC20 on a jager, forgot how beastly they are haha. But between these two mechs I have been grinding out Cbills at a monster rate for Orion buyin on the 17th :)

Hopefully long enough to spend all your ammo. If you don't, strip 1 ton of ammo and add a ton of armor and try again :)

It's a joke build of course, but the Jager is the only mech that can pull it off (I think?).

yup. cataphracts can't due to their arm actuators.

If you strip off 3 tons of ammo though, you can drop the engine rating, putting a DHS in torso giving you back 4.5 tons of armor. still skimpy but you'll last longer than your target.

heck you could change to single heat sinks, its not like your generating any heat. could drop another engine rating and put 3 SHS in torso instead of the DHS and get another 0.5T armor. That's getting into the realms of respectable torso armor, since nobody tries to shoot your arms first they want you DEAD lol

I made a DD build with 6 MGs and 2 PPCs. I think it could be pretty good, but requires a much different play style than with most Jagers. Anyone try that before?

Yeah, it's pretty common at some levels, but not very good. Machine guns are decent once armor is gone, but not that good given a 65 ton mech. You'd use ERPPC's, so they can still do damage at close range and, of course, it's not like heat is a concern otherwise.

Ultimately, it's usable but just not very good.

But what IS really good on the DD? The best thing I come up with is an UAC5, AC20, and two medium lasers. Which I can run on the other chassis that was 3,000,000 cr cheaper...

This is why the did isn't terribly good. The best builds can be done on an S. Probably the best options that are dd specific are 2-3 uac5's and 4-3 mgs, with a pair of mls.

With the DD I am a fan of 3XAC2 on one side and an AC10 or LBX10 on the other side. Fire the AC2's together to make a fast firing "AC6"

Playing with the 6-A atm.
2 x Ac2
2 x MedLas
2 x SRM6
Lots of DHS

Works good so far.

So I've started leveling my first jagermech today and I'm trying to decide whether to buy the Firebrand or not from my leftover founders MC. So far I like the dakka dakka of the JM6-S (Quad AC5 or triple UAC5 or even dual gauss) but I'm wondering what the Firebrand can do that's unique?

Sure it can mount 2 PPCs pretty high, but so can the CPLT-K2 and that's more XL-friendly. And merely mounting 2 LL up high makes me wish for lower armor actuators.

So, Jagermech pilots, what can the Firebrand do that's special and unique amongst mechs?

Edit: Well I guess it could do a dual gauss + ERPPC glass canon sniper build, but that's not very appealing compared to a well balanced dual guass + 2ML build.
