You know, I've made my opinions on ECM/missile balance known for a while. I've even held off on buying MC because I wanted to see how ECM/missile balance was fixed or changed under the idea that if it wasn't I was going to move on.

However, I just bought 6500 MC. Why? Because of how this LRM drama got handled. Cool, calm and professional. There wasn't a knee-jerk rollback but instead some studied review and a hotfix after a solid (ideally tested) solution is found.

I'm investing in the game in beta because I have confidence the end result will be excellent and in the interim it's been an awesome game to play the beta of.

That and headshot bugs aside the Jager is awesome and the new map is just stunning, absolutely brilliant and better every time I play it.

Solid work PGI, please keep it up.

I'm going to do you a big favor here and buy you a clue since for some reason you seem not to know what "everyone" else knows.

First off the splash damage for "ALL" missiles in this game have been an issue for a "LONG" time now. It has been proven by us and "CONFIRMED" by the dev's. There was a very good reason why everyone was using SRMs and SSRMs since instead of doing 2.5 damage per missile they were really doing 5.5 when you added in the splash damage. Some where on long the coding line a mistake was made to where splash damage was in addition too the 2.5 damage instead of being taken from that number. i.e. (1.5 damage on the panel hit and .5 damage to the adjoining panels for a grand total of 2.5 damage per missile)

The Dev's plan on taking splash damage out of the game on APR 02 but after looking over the coding found out that splash damage was not transferring to the legs on missiles hitting those areas. So the Dev's in this current patch place in coding to correct that issue. Only problem is that while correcting by increase the size of the splash damage area from 6 meters to 8 meters they also created a much greater problem with splash damage now transferring even more damage than before.

So now we have "LRM/SRM/SSRM Warrior Online" And that is why they have to hot fix it in a nut shell

Muhuhahaha 1189 damage in a Trebuchet LRM Carrier. Cry me some more LRM tears. So delicious. It's a 1 day payback time for the months of LRMs being useless.

what month was that, I missed it. I've been here since closed beta and LRM have never been worthless. OP very often, fine rarely and broken once which lasted like a day.

They were worthless for like a couple weeks around August, you could wade through lrm clouds and just ignore them.

I'd honestly take that over their current power.

It was actually near-worthless once, they only seemed to do effectively 0.8-1.2 damage per missile in spite of being listed at 1.7. I created my medium-range LRM support build in a bid to make it not worthless (by ensuring all missiles hit by firing at 200-250 metres) at that time, so it stuck in my memory. At that time I was one of the only pilots still using them.

The very next patch, LRM damage was buffed, the trajectory suddenly become 90 degrees, and suddenly they started heashotting everything in one shot, so I gave up and moved on to the Dragon.

It was November. Around 15 November, that was the datestamp of the time I created that C4 guide.

Ok so you bought some MC because the devs rolled out a really bad patch with a bug that would have been detected within minutes if they'd bothered to test the damage change they did to the missiles. But because they were acting cool about it, that gave you confidence they know what they're doing? Well we sure have different ways to interpret the same scenario.

December to now. Since the ECM patch, they've been a very underpowered and nearly useless weapon. Have you never heard of ECM?

That's a 7vs8 my team won with the highest score I've probably ever seen off a 50 ton I've ridden. Why can't Piranha EVER target any kind of middle ground? Useless one day, OP the next, after the hotfix and incoming missile nerf(sorry, I mean "fix"), it'll be useless again.

Here's the thing.

There's going to be bugs. Big ones, large ones, medium ones, small ones. Each patch will fix some and hopefully introduce less than it creates. The issue is how they're dealt with.

I like how this one was dealt with. It was a big one, clearly a mistake, but got handled well.

I started using LRM15 after the Jager patch, so clearly I have little experience with them. But look at my stats:

LRM 15 6 3,855 709 18.39% 00:35:34 2,196
2196 / 709 hits = 3,09 damage ( should be 1.8)

its almost pointless to be any other mech other than a missile boat. i wanted to check out for myself if they were broken. i was my stalker 5s and i got 7 kills 1049 dmg. sure i love the kills and dmg but c'mon its ridiculous. i should not be able to kill every mech with a headshot like nothing
