Much like the promised ECM post!
Seriously, though... This is silly.
Ripped the "proper" build off my JM6-A, replaced it with 2MG, 1ML, 1TAG, and 4 LRM15's. Who needs artemis.
Racking up 1000-1500 point games not even trying, just lolspamming LRM's all over the place. Those 4 15-packs kill anything in two volleys, most mechs in one. It's just silly.
Every match devolves into two lines of mechs, 4-6 have LRM's, the rest are snipers... or the occasional light who tries to go "boat hunting".
But you can't. Not now. There's no lights hunting LRM boats. There's just too many, always friendly LRM boats in sight. If a light molests one, the rest make it rain on the light in question, and TAG means ECM is worthless for that.
That's assuming the light manages to get close to one in the first place, which is unlikely.
It's funny because even ECM is worthless against this many LRM's. You don't even need a lock, just dumbfire them at people - no incoming missile warning, and once they're being hit it's too late.

Sorry BA, but I feel the need to take exception to this comment. Your comment equates to a blanket statement that anyone who's providing feedback here is a bad player, doesn't know how to play(L2P!), or stands in the open with their head's up their arses (arguably the same as the first two anyway).
I see lots of experienced players in this thread who've given thoughtful feedback on the issue and it's plain that this is not a Learn 2 Play issue, but a bugged damage effect that's now being exploited in nearly every match since the patch seems to have exacerbated the issue with a missile related fix of another sort.

The majority of posts are of "OP", "Cheese", "fix this or I quit", "ECM sucks", "L2P", "P2W". If you guys haven't already figured it out I bet the majority of people playing the game for a while are telling 2 or more their friends the game is just ok but something about it sucks. You will always have your die-hard fanbase but if you want to grow your playerbase you need to test your patches way better than this or at least communicate on the FRONT PAGE (not in forums posts) what the hell is going on. Under "latest news" instead of putting ISN NEWS FLASH put patch notes/patch bugs and current status of hotfix.
That would help with the feel of frustration from the players that PGI doesnt know what the hell they are doing with updates/patches. Do you guys even test the content updates? or just unleash it on the players and wait for the players to raise hell on the forums, then fix it?
People love mechwarrior and want it to succeed but every time gameplay is affected we get jaded and can take only so much before giving up and telling our friends they should play something else. For every step you guys advance it seems like you take a step or two back. (example: ecm introduced then find out it needs serious tweaking, new alpine map then discover broken splash/hitboxes, new tourmaline map then missles borked etc..)
I'm gonna keep playing here and there and this won't be my main go to game for fun and I sure as hell wont be spending MC until I get a feeling of stability of gameplay/game balance. The majority of stuff from now should be adding stuff to the game not "back to the drawing board". I'd prefer less patches for well-balanced and well-tested game additions.
PS
and as a side-note please address the elephant in the room known as ECM already and end the debate.

Cos we know that come the hot-fix, it'll be like taking off our training weights and everyone will complaining how snipers are ruining the game! Bwahahahah!
At least with sniping u have to aim, not have some1 aim for u or a computer for that matter.

Option 3: Pick a mech that is already horribly broken relative to LRMs (say, Commandos) and train how to not die in a missile rain environment. When the LRMs get patched back to normal states, you'll be permanently unkillable by non-glitching missiles.
And then still end up dying almost immediately anyway because everybody and their grandma is carrying LRMs and TAG, so it doesn't matter if you're jamming the 3 mechs near you because their 5 buddies a few hundred meters away have you TAGged and locked.
There is basically nothing playable in this current state outside of LRMs mechs; everything else is obliterated in moments, ECM or no ECM.

If you start running mechs with LRM, to artificially inflate your Cbill earnings and score then you are, BY DEFINITION exploiting a known bug.
Why is it so hard to understand? If PGI expect this game to be taken seriously by competitive players they need to put in some sort of disciplinary system. It's that simple. Every MMO does it. If a bug is introduced, the devs acknowledge it and if you continue to knowingly and wilfully abuse it, then you get a punishment.
Its no different to many other situations I've seen over the years, where a patch makes X item or creature suddenly provide more rewards. If you go farm it, you will get suspended / banned. Happens all the time. No reason it shouldn't happen here also.
PGI can see the logs, it should be very easy to tell who is exploiting the bug and who isn't.
Finally, I never said anything about me complaining that it is unfair, or I got 'but hurt'. This is my feedback as a long time competitive gamer and providing my perspective on this sort if issue. This sort of problem will happen again, systems need to be put in place to deal with them.
This time it is LRM, next time it might be that crits on LB10-X are broken, instantly killing mechs say. If someone started running LB10-X to deliberately take advantage of that bug, it would be no different to this situation.
Please get over yourselves, if you think it is ok to abuse a broken game mechanic then you aren't doing this game or yourself any favours in the long term. If they want e-sports, they need to start planning how to treat this sort of thing now, not later.
Have you forgotten. this is BETA. Need to remember that. WE are the test bed. We need to "EXPLOIT" the bugs in order to generate the data they need. They will then take that data and manage a proper fix that will make sense instead of "HOTFIXING" everything. to just hotfix it next week then to hotfix it again when you complain.
This is a work in progress, penalizing anyone with the exception of someone actually hacking the program, would be inherently counter productive. Please think with your head and not with your trigger finger.

So people choose the path of least resistance. LRM is now the new SSRM (min. range of 180m) - kills faster than any other MWO weapons out there at the moment and it's easy too!

1. ECM should not stack , ECM should only delay locks , ECM should mask minimap outside the 180m bubble but not inside.
2. BAP should offset #1 locking delay and reduce minimap blindness to 500m , increase target gathering etc etc
3. Tag should paint a target and enable locks under ECM
4. Fix the armor damage multi on legs
5. Fix splash damage and LRMs should target Tag locations or middle of mech not head and legs
6. put DHS values to 1.5x maybe even 1.7x
7. reduce FF armor to a more reasonable critical space like 6 or 9. Saving 1/2 ton to 2 tons is chicken feed to loosing all those crits.
8. Tag weight should be 1/2 ton , Narc should be 1-2 tons and should stick to a target for 20secs or until the mech rec'v 50 dmg or more. (ie the narc is destroyed)
I could go on but those changes IMO are logical and needed

Not biased at all...
I guess I should dig up my LRM Carriers and make the best of it while it lasts. This is probably the only comeback they are ever going to get.

There's a difference on an opinion of OP not all share...and an obviously 'broken' patch.

Game is really reminding me of Closed Beta.... Not in a good way.
Get shot in the back by a teammate with Gauss Rifles at the start of the match... and then obliterated by LRMs. Rinse, Wash, Repeat
