With the pending launch of MWO, I've been wanting to pick up some of the fiction to read... To really get into the BattleTech Universe again.

I'm looking for some suggestions... Which are worth reading? And which aren't?

Illusions of Victory is a great book to start with. (my personal favorite)

Solaris VII is home to the ultimate sporting event--where Mechwarriors from every corner of the Inner Sphere come to make war. Michael Searcy arrived in dishonor, but worked his way up in the ranks to become one of the game's most accomplished players. But now, ancient grudges have reached beyond the arena. And Michael is caught in a championship match where the winner is the last man alive...

A great series is the Blood of Kerensky 3 part series. Covers a major part of the Battletech history.

You can read a good way into the Kerensky series here:

Okay I'll break up my recommendations by era and other factors.

If you love the Jade Falcons:
* The Jade Phoenix Trilogy: Way of the Clans, Bloodname, and Falcon Guard
* Freebirth (Twilight of the Clans book 4)
* Falcon Rising (Twilight of the Clans book 8)
* Operation Audacity
* Natural Selection
* Main Event
* I am Jade Falcon

You love Clan Wolf:
* Blood of Kerensky Trilogy: Lethal Heritage, Blood Legacy, Lost Destiny
* Bred for War
* Malicious Intent
* Natural Selection
* I am Jade Falcon

Wolf's Dragoon fans should read:
* Wolf Pack
* Wolves on the Border
* Blood of Kerensky Trilogy: Lethal Heritage, Blood Legacy, Lost Destiny

FedCom fans love it all, how it rose and how it falls:
* Blood of Heroes
* Assumption of Risk
* Warrior Trilogy: En Garde, Riposte, Coupe
* The Sword and Dagger
* Blood of Kerensky Trilogy: Lethal Heritage, Blood Legacy, Lost Destiny
* Tactics of Duty
* Bred for War
* Illusions of Victory
* Measure of a Hero
* Flashpoint
* Patriots and Tyrants
* Call of Duty
* Storms of Fate
* Operation Audacity
* Endgame

In fact this link has all of them listed and small synopsis of each book:
