However, now there's no good way to locate mechs shrouded with ECM at long range.

The heat vision seems to provide what the night vision is supposed to, clear view of terrain at long ranges but the contrast of hot objects is kinda low even at short ranges.
It's a good start but needs tweeking.

But it's supposed to be "blob vision mode", except that high temperature objects (like mechs) are in high contrast to the environment.

I meant "blob" in the sense that a lot of contrast was lost and it was difficult to aim at some small parts of mechs like cockpits. Also, not all thermal uses colors.

Still, I'm not really sure what thermal is supposed to be used for right now. I've played two games so far and the "standard" vision was by far the most useful. Mechs don't look much hotter than their surroundings much of the time.

I agree, this new heat vision mode is bad, really bad. The previous one was much better.

That's why I said earlier that I'd like to see the new heat vision mode as a night vision mode (maybe without mechs getting brigher if they're hot) and the old heat vision still for heat vision.

I think having a greyscale heat vision is fine, and I understand that they wanted to make it worse at long range (though if I were in charge I would have rolled this out with a fixed advanced zoom module). What I really would like is for enemy mechs to be brighter.
Also, where's magscan?

Night Vision is way to bright, its blinding. turned it on for the 1st time in river city night and it hurt my eye's, im using a 42" Plasma TV so yea ..VERY bright. maybe not so bad on smaller screens but even so ..to bright.
maybe also tweek Advanced Zoon whilst ur doing these vision tweeks.

And that's how it should be, in my opinion. Standard should be by far the most useful in most cases. Thermal should be for spotting mechs that are cooking and trying to hide.

And that is a good thing. Just because I was able to regularly pick off people who I can barely see, and only thanks to heat vision at 900m with UAC5s does not mean that's the way I want it to be. Good riddance to heat vision being 'pick out a target at any range' mode.

Well it was fun, but i like the old thermal better. Too much white in the new one and the mechs dont really stand out. In frozen city with fog heat was the only mode and the new one was just slightly better than standard view, no more snipping in that map i guess.

As for night vision, i havent used it once. Its would be better named "BLOOM VISION", its just a mass of brightgreen on my hud.

It was a mistake. Details are here. They'll be fully implemented on April 2nd.
