Nah when it's E3, an atlas pop out of nowhere and crush all the other game developer there.

Simple as that.

Or, more likely nubnub is some random forum user who has absolutely no connections to Piranha whatsoever.

A few theories
  • Suspect #4 is Paul Inouye (4 is Pauls forum id)
  • The text posted with this image was "This may redeem but anticipate its redaction" this text is wayyyy out of place in the desktop thread and almost certainly a reference to redeeming a code in your profile and the redaction taking place to the artemis log.
3. Taking all of this together, my theory is that Nubnub is actually Paul. There is some relation to the image and it being able to be "redeemed." What exactly? I am not sure, but it seems very suspicious to have paul as suspect #4, a number that directs us to a day during nub nubs history when he posted his only posts, and then those posts conveniently enough being the aforementioned image.

There are a few other ideasI've been trying but none seem to have panned out so far. More information as people discuss.</li>

Should someone else happen to solve this with the information provided - good on ya! But let us know what the trickery was =)

This is about nub nub. http://mwomercs.com/...post__p__307217

As far as the text goes, redeem and redact, it is a funny way of talking for sure, but it was in response to another's post of disappointment.

I want to know what the four or six legged mech in the picture is from...

As far as I am able to decipher, the text around the comstar label reads:

noluia er agre nilo

which, as my incredibly old and incredibly incomplete latin, translates to something like 'the middle ground will not always be waiting' .... but that is an admittedly bad translation based on my own poor latin.

I am 85% sure on the words - knowing the following letters

no***a er agre n**o

That is all...

The watermarked mech is four legged.. three toed.. and has what looks like jump jets on each leg. The top back looks like a turret gun. a damn big one.. flanked by a smaller weapon.. possibly an arm mount or torso. I am guessing this may be a Golliath variant.. its the only one i could find close to the timeline and assault class. With a turret

that text in the center doesnt translate into Golliath or something related to the David and Goliath story does it? shot in the dark.. all of this is yes

Or "You eventually have to choose sides"? Can I have a translation of the translation?

Further, could the mech be a Goliath variant?

EDIT - Also, it could be a Xanthos. We are dealing with Comstar after all...

A) seems pretty likely :)

In all likelihood, the heartbeat is probably being used for two things currently:
1) Synchronizing Beta Clients/Server to one time source (as I suggested earlier)
2) Providing the time for the timer on the /artemis page to work with to do the countdown and keep it from drifting.

Part of the countdown (at least, I assume this) is basically the timer doing quick math between 'now' (the heartbeat) and 'then' (when the timer ends).. I realize this goes along with what you suggest..but, I don't think it's anything other than a method of keeping the countdown on time..

No I agree. This thing has Paul troll written all over it. A lot of it does. But for all the people thinking those numbers were a code for beta access or an IP address related to the game, I feel my explanation makes a lot more sense.

I too don't think it was anything more than a time stamp on the transmission.

As a side-note, has anyone else noticed the ARTEMIS picture changed from yesterday? It has a glaring red eye at the top now...

Well this is a list of all the Quad battlemechs in Canon that fit the timeline (although possibly not the lore, i.e. clan variant even though clans haven't arrived...)

I'm gonna say that's supposed to be a Goliath. I mean look at the huge honkin gun on it's back.

E3 is open from 12pm - 6pm Pacific time on Tues, June 5th.
The Artemis Clock runs out at 4pm that day (11:00:00 GMT)... an odd time to choose...perhaps.

Having done quite a few conventions in my day, first day of a show in the afternoon is often when big announcements are made. Then they have the best chance of hitting as many eyeballs and eardrums from the media on the show floor as possible, generate buzz for their booth and get plenty of articles on gaming sites and blogs to generate interest for the grass roots (us).

Also, looking at the image, that mech clearly has 6 limbs, something I've never seen on any mech.

I still think nubnub is involved in PGI or IGP. Either one of the developers or possibly maybe one of IGP's web guys who helped make the website. Ok so it seems like nubnub is from Australia/NZ based on the 99.9%/0.1% count. Just because he's located there doesn't mean he's not involved. As mentioned a few times that comstar static website saves and loads off a temporary folder created locally. How is it that nubnub is able to script an ability to friend everyone and also find beta stats and different comstar versions that we don't have? I think he's able to remote login to the PGI network and hence has access to their 'local' information, and that is why he's able to provide such information as he has.

Whether or not he knows much of the game could come down to either not being directly involved in its production, i.e. an IGP employee, or possibly disinformation. But there's just too many links (ncluding the forum user ID and static website ID) for there to be no connection.
