Jagermech Jm6-Dd Makes No Sense

ok so first I see 6 Balistic slots, beeing a old Cata x4 pilot my first thought was YES the AC2's are back in a 6x configuration on the Jager! I bought it instantly and then I found out that you can NOT and I mean NOT fit any 6 balistic weaponry besides machine guns sins you simply do not have the tonnage.

Oh but ofc you can strip it down giving it 0 armor and a 255 xl then you can get this:

6x AC2's
6x Dubble Heat syncs
4x AC2 Ammo

and you now have a 63.5 km/h heavy mech that will be killed by anything and packing 12 firepower......

WHAT IS THE POINT IN 6 BALISTIC SLOTS THEN YOU CANT USE THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You dont need additional heatsink with 6ac2.

You run 5x AC2 instead, or 3x AC2 and Gauss, and do still better damage with better heat management.

Stop thinking gimmick builds are the best.

AC2s make loads of heat with sustained fire actually. 2 heat per second is on par with most lasers.

non of you have run a striped down jagermech I know that, els you would not give BS "advice" like that. The Jagermech jm6-dd is a waste of money. get a cata x4 instead... dont buy this crap.

You silly goose, it's perfectly fine and normal and sensible that mechs are given more hardpoints than they can ever hope to fill! Duh! Spider 5K and Cicada 3C would agree!

I use the DD for heavier ballistic loadouts when I will not be tempted to use 4 energy hardpoints in the process of buiding it in the mech lab.

For me I think the AC/40, and 3 UAC jagerbuilds are more logical on the DD where every ton ends up counting. When I attempted to build those on a JM6-S I felt like I was doing it wrong by not utilizing the 4 energy HPs to take 4 Mediums or Pulses.

Right now I have been switching between 2 AC/20s, 2 ML or 3UACs, 2 MLs on my DD.

On the S I have been playing around with a 4 ML, Gauss, UAC build and a 2 UAC, 4 MPL one.

Too bad MGs dont do any real damage, you could utilize the extra ballistic HPs to bring more back up weapons.

so you run 2x AC20 with around what 28 rounds? thats 560 dam you can deal pr match.... waue....

This mech is pointless

Or you just ignore the extra two ballistic hardpoints and, gee, it's exactly the same as the other Jagermechs?

The 65t weight limit of the Jager pretty much dictates the DD should be run with 2-4 Ballistic and 2 lasers. It's pretty sad to have to run it as a Jaeger S but short 2 energy hardpoints though. I feel it kinda opens up for a Hero Jager with better hardpoints since the DD is a bit weak and you want to Elite Jagers.

I think this opinion of the Jager is handy to pick out people who have zero understanding of balanced builds and just wanna pack a mech with whatever fits the slots.

buy this mech, fit it as you "think" its good and then try it.

You will come to see what I am bitching about. I have sold this pice of junk and gone back to my good old Cata & Stalker, two mechs that makes sense and most importnat ARE FUN!

I designed one with 6 AC/2s. Good for annoying people at long range but not a lot else. You do have the tonnage but you won't be fast and won't have a ton of ammo. I am now thinking it might be better to put 2 PPCs on it and 6 Machine Guns. Poke holes in mechs and then if they get close strip off weapons through any holes that didn't core the thing.

Now this is a slow build but has decent armor and firepower (like most I went with the DD as my 1st Jager, saving up to get the other 2 now) and have spent every day since the patch figuring out a unique setup for the DD and frankly it just isn't possible. Anything you can do with the DD the S or A can do better. The best 2 builds I have managed to come up with are these:

4 AC/2 and 2 LL with a 200 XL and 352 armor with 375 rounds of AC/2 ammo.

2 UAC/5 and 2 ER PPC with either a 200 XL, 411 armor, and 150 UAC/5 ammo or same armor as above with 125 ammo and a 235 XL.

Both setups are fairly light on heatsinks but the heat is manageable. If interested I can link my builds.

I have my DD set up with 2x Med Pulse, 2x UAC/5 and 4xMG.

200 rounds on the UAC/5 and 2000 on the MG's.

That is after going DHS, and bumping the armor up for minor brawling when needed.

As to going toe-to-toe with a stalker, few mechs can if it is loaded out right. And since all the Jager's are easy to head...

P.S. I originally had it with 2 LBX/10's instead of the UAC/5's. But I didn't like that the only thing I could do at range was sneeze at people.

To the OP:

I haven't build a bad design with this platform yet. I am a big fan, and have run 4x ac2s- 2xac2s and an 20, 2 lb10x - 4 mgs and a PPC.


there's plenty of fun to be had with this particular variant and they never promised you 6xac2s right? There was no post that I missed saying 'the JM6-D will carry 6xac2s without any armor, weight, heat, or ammunition issues'.

If there was, then I apologize.
