So to all those that have been crying about the tiny little nerf they gave Catapults, take a look at the current tournament leader boards...

http://mwomercs.com/tournaments

Currently top player has 6890 in a catapult.

In the entire catapult class the top 15 players have over 5000

in the Cataphract and Jaeger mech class only the top 6 are above 5000

in the poor dragon class only the top 4 are above 4000

Splat cats still reign surpreme

Doesnt prove anything honestly. That tournament scores higher for getting tags and capture assists than it does kills.

Catapults aren't lights, I highly doubt they're running around capping everything...

Yeah but a catapult with a tag could tag 3 people during a game for a score of 3*40 and maybe get 1 kill for 1*30 as opposed to 4 kills for 4*30 and 150>120. I'm not saying that's how he's winning but if you're going to use the tournament as a barometer for how good one heavy is compared to another... No.

Good players can get 3-5 kills in a round and 2 or 3 assists... capping and tagging is not really a viable way to get to the top. So obviously the catapult is better at getting kills hmmm I wonder why

If you purposefully miss getting a kill so you can tag someone, your score is higher than if you killed that guy and missed the opportunity to tag. The tournament isnt a viable way of determining which heavy is better, because the scoring system is *** backwards.

In fact your potential score is much higher if you don't go for kills at all. If you do a bit of damage to each member of an enemy team while tagging/spotting as much as possible and capping points your winning matches will net you a greater score than if you wasted time trying to actually kill enemy mechs. The splatcat which you're claiming is the best heavy is actually the worst possible variant of a heavy mech to win this tournament. A dragon would be the best choice because of its speed.

Yet Catapults are on top, Dragons are on the bottom....

TAG+NARC+LRM+SRM = catapult wins.

Some of the Lone Wolves have been playing in the event. We have been hanging out on a TS sub channel pugging our way through the thing. One of are members is climbing the ranks fast. Because he is tagging the **** out of every thing. He is going for kill assists and TAG bonuses.

We figure that the people on the top of the score boards are focusing on tagging, and assists. Some of them are most likely sync dropping with friends who are running missiles boats.

The scoring for this event is *** backwords. TAG and NARC should not even be counted for a heavy mech competition.

Exactly. There's a hard cap on how much you can score off of both kills and assists, 240. There's theoretically no limit to tag/narc and spotting bonuses.

Scoring for the event should be something like Kills*30+Assists*10+Damage*1(the literal damage number of your best ten games added together)+components destroyed*20. There also shouldn't be a score for matches played, it just gives everyone a free 1500 so why bother?

If that was how the tournament was scored and a splatcat was far above everyone else, then yeah I'd see that has hard concrete evidence that the splatcat is the best heavy, maybe.

Dragons on top. I literally just played a game with Mister Blastman. His build is a Dragon 1C with 2 LL 1 ML an SRM6 and a tag I believe. XL 340.

The real surprise: Dragon player leads the boards. Nerf Mister Blastman.

(Or is that "nerf tag scoring"?)

It says CATAPLUT.. we do not know what variants are being used. The A1 and K2 has had users QQinf for a nerf since CB. This twist nerft hurts LRM C1 and C4 builds and only hurts the PPC K2 NOT the Gauss or AC20 K2 and def not the Splat or Streak A1.

Conclusion: Gauss and Boom Kats, Steak and Splat Cats are now the only viable builds if you want to be competitive.
