This made me laugh, because I was piloting one in MW4 literally 5 minutes ago.

Love that Supernova. It's slow. But i love it.

It's been confirmed that the devs have repeatedly blown themselves up piloting the swayback.

So who knows if you can blow yourself up, but for sure 8 medium lasers will be a tricky heat curve to master if you plan on going alpha all the time.

Where was this gameplay of shutdown mechs? Maybe I've overlooked the gameplay mech type videos but I don't remember seeing any.

heat level critical shut down imminent. i'm pretty sure i experimented with no armor and most of the tonnage was heat skins and put the mech into the water. you can't tell me firing a single 8 medium laser alpha strike once would cause a melt down over a single 4 erppcs alpha strike. there just no way

They seem to be using table top B Tech rules for heat. So 8 medium lasers generate 24 heat. 26 is high chance of shut down and 30 heat auto shutdown. With 10 standard heat sinks, and a bit of waiting say you go down to 14 heat and pull the alpha again. You are now at 38 heat and shut down.

We have seen game play of overheated, shut down mechs, but none of exploding mechs.

Best ruleset for this mechanic in my opinion its a good solid way of regulating the heatup. Heat Management has always been a big thing in Mechwarrior, so they'll want to implement it has best they can and make it an integral mechanic for the mech. Lots of things can happen around heat.

I'd kinda think that the mech would only explode from overheat when the pilot has excessively burnt out the Heat sinks from going way over its limits too many times, like 4 or 6 times, and by over I mean like double what it could manage. It also kinda make sense if you mount 4 ERPPC's on a light with Single Sinks its just gunna ******* send itself into orbit.

well remember it's not how much heat you generate, just how much you don't sink that leads to explosions

If you can sink 24 heat, fire away, until you take an engine hit or run alot...

Too much heat can cause your mech to violently explode.

"sigh" I refuse to get sucked into this conversation. I offically give it a BD rating of 8

But if somthing does explode I will lower the BD rating to 2

Lasers and the stock Atlas already has 4 and depending on how they're laid out it would probably be quite easy to put 8 or perhaps even 12 MLas on.

Also in your signature it's "moving" not "moveing" and "you're" not "ur" btw ur is not a word.

The HBK-4P "Swayback" is confirmed in, and it takes out the Hunchbacks normal massive autocannon for 6 medium lasers, throw in the arms and that's 8 medium lasers on one medium mech.

Nice, I would love to see a screenshot of the Hunchback swayback variant. Big laser pod on shoulder?

The scary thing is that if you can give it DHS and an XL engine, you can make a sway-back heat stable with 9 MLas and have it moving at Jenner speeds. With its standard 160 points of armour.

Will it 8 medium lasers when fired in an Alpha strike cause te reactor to go critical like in mw3 or will it be like mw4 and you can fire an Alpha strike without a meltdown?

Depends on how much of the TT heat scale they put in.

If they use the full heat scale, autoshutdown is the top of the list, automatic ammo explosion is slightly lower, and random system failures become very possible (basically, through-armor criticals) due to heat damage.

Eight medium lasers on a zero-heat 'Mech isn't going to cause it to explode, but it'd force a shutdown override. Eight ER mediums on a zero-heat 'Mech would likely force it into shutdown and a good chance of blowing an ammo bin if it has one, but neither will cause a 'Mech to go to pieces from one salvo.

Advanced heat scale goes up to 50- 36+ gives you a chance for "system failure", which is a single critical hit on the front chart, pilot damage, and eventually auto-ammo detonation.

One of the devs stated that someone killed themselves by overheating their Swayback. The Swayback is an all-laser hunchback, so yes, with no ammo.
