my torso sticks out enough that giving them my profile does not do me any good, they can still core my CT from the side.
any other tips?

ps.
this trick actually worked against atlas and splatcats because their missiles weren't hitting just 1 perfect tiny spot, now with this new brand of cheese - nothing will save me but to pilot another chassis entirely

Personally I'd got with 6LLs on an 8Q but I really like the LLs. With state rewind my 4xLL K2 kills lights non-stop, just wish I had more BZZZT. A couple sets of 2LLs plus the arm ones as separate fire groups.... seems like it would work alright. Depends how you fight.

It could be that without SRMs being the most powerful brawling weapon in the game that the 8R may not be a premier brawler now. I know the A1 never was a great brawler but at least passable and possibly less so now. It's a support chassis at its best. The C4 is a solid brawler though, mix of lasers and SRMs, JJs and flexible.

Dunno what to tell you. You're upset because fixing an issue with SRMs and putting them more in balance (if not a bit over-nerfed, but at most a tiny bit) has made the build you enjoyed playing most less viable. Saying 'it was only viable that way because SRMs were wonky' isn't going to help, I get that. I see why you're frustrated. The rest of the game is better though so unfortunately the best advice I have is change up how you play or what you pilot.

Apparently missiles were nerfed because a "study" showed they were regularly doing 2-7 times their intended damage (the main person behind the "study" claims SRMs were doing as much damage as Gauss Rifles). Ultimately the study came down to a 40 second video of a Mech hitting the legs of a commando 2 times, and the CT 2 times....hardly compelling. Then a series of numbers were presented to be accepted at face value.

I have posted a counter-study based on videos meant to provide context for these numbers/claims. This is along with a Splatcat's players stats over 45 games.

http://mwomercs.com/...splatcat-stats/

Nowhere in the thousands of missiles fired do we see any clear evidence of missiles doing exponentially more damage then intended. The problem is too much data was simply accepted at face value, based on an initial 40 second video. Based on this "research" (one forty second video and a series of numbers taken on faith) a huge sweeping change on all missiles was introduced as an emergency measure.

And even then, the change makes no sense. The claim was because of splash 2-3 light mechs were receiving extra damage. The "hot fixed" reduced splash AND THEN reduced all missile damage by 40%. If the problem was with splash damage, on some light Mechs, primarily due to streaks (as standard SRMs rarely hit lights), why did damage to all missiles have to be reduced by 40% instead of just eliminating splash damage?

They could have just eliminated splash damage on Streaks or reduced it greatly, a 40% across the board cut was not warranted even IF the claimed bug was real, and the data behind the claimed bug was dubious to begin with.

That was all very counterculture and all (A IDS denialism, anyone?) but the numbers posted were demonstrably correct. for example, a single srm 6 would kill a commando in training grounds.

I tried it myself. it worked, ten times out of ten. one srm 6 (15 damage) KILLS a fresh commando. Take a deep breath, count to ten, and tell me that SRMs were fine before the patch.
If you can, you're either a great actor or you should join Scientology, as you've got some serious doublethink potential.

is the damage lower than it should be? yes.
is the sky falling? no. this is temporary until the source of the problem can be hammered out, and SRMs can be doing the damage they initially were supposed to.

this is not a hard concept people.

You can't even answer a simple yes or no question with a straight yes or no.
