I'm curious, I log in C3 when I play, but I never ever see anyone else besides me in there. Yes, I do use TS, but you have to team up with others and sync drop. A lot of the time I prefer to PUG more. Supposingly C3 integration in MWO will auto group you with other people in your team when you drop. This would be great as I can communicate with the random pug group I'm in. But so far I have yet to see another soul in C3.

There are still very popular TS channels that MANY people use since CB, such as Comstar NA, Comstar EU, and The NoGutsNoGalaxy public TS server.

C3 is pretty bad right now. No one uses it, and it doesnt autogroup you as it was supposed to do on drop. This is why more people use TS3, or Vent.

My bandwidth won't support VOIP and gaming at the same time. When I use C3 for more than just three or four words, my ping jumps up to 400ms, and there doesn't appear to be a way to adjust the quality level for lower bandwidth usage.

ok, so it doesn't autogroup. that sucks. I guess preform group is the only way to have voice comm for now.

No one uses C3 because there is no lobby, the only people on my C3 list were people I gamed with on TS during CB.

Myself and a few pals use it. We set up a private channel. If they are not on I will head over to the NgNg TS3 server and hang out in the LFG channel until someone grabs me to fill a group. Honestly, C3 isn't so bad. It's free to use, as in, I don't have to rely on someone or myself to pay and maintain the thing like with Vent or TS or Mumble. Everyone has a preference and that's cool. I use whatever works for me at the time. :P

I believe Garth has stated in NGNG #56 that they are aware of the need for viable voice coms, and they want to work on it but they are more concerned about the netcode/lag shield/hit boxes issues and are focused on that right now. He also said the netcode problem has 4 areas to fix, only one of which was ready to roll out.

Iron H. Not all of us live in the mighty US of A where 512kbit is what you use on your phone. With respect - let the man play. It is not as if he has any choice if it is like where I am from. You get what you get, competition and comepetence is non existent etc etc etc. You get the picture.

I find this hard to believe. Back in '98-99 I was using Roger Wilco over a 56k dialup connection while playing MW3/4...

Hey, the mighty US of A has some of the oldest and patched into infrastructure around. Sure we invented it, but we are still using the same lines.... If only AT&T was allowed to keep their control over their lines... THEN we'd be rockin. :P (I'm a telecom engineer for *****).

.
Because it's not as good as TS... Last time I used it, it was laggy, poor sound quality, etc, etc, etc.

Myself and the clan use C3 even though we have several other chat servers.

It's a great program and plan to continue using It as long as It exists!

I use the TS3, Ventrilo, & Mumble apps on my smartphone so they don't share gaming bandwidth. Might be an option for you as well.

Simple reason: It isn't supporting pugs yet. It will do so when finished and then I will also use it.

With ventrilo Teampspeak and skype in place voice systems integrated into games allways were and allways will be meant for use mainly by random groups. Any developer believing that serious clans would ever use an ingame voice system are simply neglecting or unaware of common practice in multiplayer gaming.

Hah, you overestimate the USA's internet infrastructure, we're behind most of Western and Northern Europe.

honestly, c3 should do a LOT more than just add voip into the game. I think that's a sad, sad underappreciation for the scope to which c3 changed Battletech - or at least, my gameplay experience. I built entire lance sets and company's using IS tech and mechs around c3 to battle my clan-o-phile friend and roommate - I hated clans, he loved them, and one of the only techs that the IS had that Clans didn't (or at least, didn't use) was the c3

and make no mistake, a very carefully designed lance designed to take advantage of c3 was DEVASTATING!!

sadly, I've been playing for about 8, maybe 10 days so far (the days go by so fast), and I can't imagine what exactly you could make c3 do that doesn't already exist in the game that would justify the awesome that c3 is...I'm still...thinking about it

but I really do think that c3 should be a TREMENDOUS tool for a team willing to use it, and I also think that whatever c3 ends up being, it should DEFINITELY NOT be available to whatever the clans end up as...thats OUR unique piece of technology and our one and only real technological ace-in-the-hole we can hold over the clans - don't take that away from us!
