Tactics is all over my facebook and anywhere else I see ads. Wonder how they do that -.-

Google tracks your browsing (on Chrome) and search history, then uses AdChoices or whatever to send you "relevant" advertisements to your interests. For example, I spend a lot of time on gun forums and webstores, so when I pause my AdBlock I get a ton of ads from the NRA, gun companies, etc. If you're spending the majority of your time looking at MechWarrior-related stuff, it'll send you relevant ads, namely MWO/MWT ads as well as ads for other stuff you may like (i.e., Hawken, World of Tanks, etc.).

Of course you can always just download an ad blocking plugin and all of that goes away (and your website load speed will probably greatly increase too). A lot of people - over 10,000,000, if Google is to be believed - use AdBlock alone on Chrome, and it's especially prevalent amongst people in MWO's target audience age bracket. Banner ads suck - nobody pays attention to them even with the personally-targeted ads, and most people block them anyway. PGI and IGP have a lot to learn about how successful marketing is done, because they seem to be stuck in the early 2000s.

Facebook tracks your web surfing when you have it open in a tab. They datamine your web history and use it to target ads to you. If you visit game sites a lot, like this one, you'll get relevant ads.

Why would they go to PAX to gain more exposure when they can put dev time into 3PV, reaping nad retaining players with that amazing feature?

Supposedly not a single dev is currently working on third-person view, but honestly, how much do any one of us trust PGI and especially Bryan at this point?

You don't have to have it open in a tab. If a site uses the facebook api at all, facebook knows you were on that site and can track you. It happens as soon as the page loads, assuming you have javascript turned on.

Just a suggestion, but you can use ghostery, it's fantastic for blocking this sort of thing.

-- Edit --

Just as an example, this page alone uses 3 tracking entries: 1 for adroll, 1 for Google +1, and another for google analytics

I do use ghostery. It's a fantastic little thing.

Websites with 11+ trackers are damn insane.

there a way I can take a ss of my facebook and get the picture of the ad?

You could hit the Print Screen key, then crop with Paint.

A few things in reply to some of the posts above.

Exhibiting at a convention can cost really big bucks. Both in booth space, and staff costs. If they went there for a panel, then they went as invited guests, big difference.

People seem to be getting at the edge of where things are going, and the difference between MWO and many other fast shooters. MWO is currently at the scenario level, building towards a long campaign level game. Many other games on the market won't ever have the potential to go beyond quick scenarios. That alone is a significant difference between target audiences.

You've been mislead if you think Community Warfare is going to be more than:

Look at CW map

Press enter battle

Fight for your big red square

Look at CW map

Maybe a couple years from now, we might have some sort of objective based game mode that could tie in to CW. Out of the gate though, you're looking at Clan Wars 2.0.

Looks like a bad Optimus Prime with very bright coloring instead of the darker matte coloring.

That's a shoulder.

MWT designs are notably horrible.

IGP already got that sweet MWO founder money, now they're after some MWT founders.

Expect much more advertisement for MWO once it releases on steam and "launches".

If it is a shoulder... why doesn't the mech have a head? We can see a CT plate.. so no cockpit there either...creepy.

Apparently there is no cammo in tactics... and mecss operate in some kind of TRON world.

Last one is actually a Catapult. First one is an Atlas I think, second one might be a Clint.

Ya, I expect this in the beginning. But I think by the end of this year or beginning of next year that CW will be more than just random games given a number, highest number wins planet.

Lemme fix that for you:
they are marketting Tactics in those banner ads. You know, that OTHER game theyre making that is in BETA TOO?
(hence why its beta is a ******** excuse for why theyre not marketting this game)

They were marketing MWO everywhere before they did tactics. It always showed up in my facebook tab, and basically everywhere else while it was in closed beta and just after open beta. Kinda the same as Tactics, actually. So maybe it's a different motive, to get people in so they can collect data and sell off the founders packages for that initial income and get investors interested, and then they start the grind at making the game and won't market much more until after they release it.

It doesn't look 3D. or it is looking straight up. Looks flat to me More like the connector where the head would go... heh

I think Devestator forgot to take the head piece out of the box when they formed together.

Reading what you want to hear or what? I said they were advertising MWO even while it was in closed beta, and a little bit after open beta.
