I purchased all 3 JagerMechs this weekend and have been hard at work leveling them up.

In my opinion they are below par compared to the other heavy's in the game.

The 2 main factors which hurt them are:

1. They are ballistics focused. With ballistic weapons being so heavy (including ammo), and the Jager only weighing 65 tons, you are forced to take an XL engine if you want any real firepower. This leads to points 2...

2. The side shields, or 'elephant ears' on the Jager are included as part of the side torso hit boxs. This is flat out wrong. The shields are meant to INCREASE the mech's survivability, not decrease it, which is what's happening now. They need to be removed from the hit box calculations and serve only as a visual element.

At the moment you can hit those ears from all sorts of angles which leads to frequent engine explosions.

I realize the Jager is a support mech and not meant for front-line brawling; but it's currently a huge glass box that only needs a few stones thrown in it's direction before it shatters.

I'd hate to see the Jager an extinct beast in a month or so when it's new toy status wears off, because I think it could be a nice edition to the battlefield with a few adjustments.

i got the DD this morning, because frankly i wanted a ballistic power house i have mechs that fire missles and have lasers i want something with cannons!
but it is kinda sad that there isnt any real way to make full use of those 6 ballistic hard pionts aside from a few trolls builds involving machine guns.

or if you want to gut your engine you can do 6 AC/2's which while id love to have that many AC/2's and get to feel like a mobile AA turret i just couldnt stand going THAT slow. but you can sill do 5 i belive.

You're aware the ENTIRE point of the Jagermech is to be ballistics focused right?

The Jagers are great mechs in my experience. They will make the K2 obsolete I think.

Yes. Reread point 1. Being ballistic focused isn't a negative, it's that they need an xl engine to carry ballistics due to being only 65 tons. Which leads to point 2...

It's really just those big shields on the sides I think that are causing the problem.

I agree with the OP, but in fairness, it might get a little irritating if those parts were a part of the arms, since that would lead them to being easily...

I wonder how it would go if they made those shields, or at least part of those shields, part of the arms.

I'd much rather have an arm blown off than a side torso.

My thoughts exactly. It would make running an xl much more viable. And even if you got zombied, you'd still theoretically have the laser points...

To be very honest, having an arm go on the Jager means up to half the firepower goes -- not very effective at that point. Might be faster from a gaming perspective to just let the side torso go (along with the XL engine).

That really, really depends. Losing one arm can mean anything from losing 2 missiles and a ballistic to an ac20 or 2 ac4s. If I had a ac/40 build, I'd choose the arm over the torso every time. even one more ac20 shot (but likely more) can be the last straw to kill a mech, and with quite a bit of margin. and 2 ac2s left is more than ample to do some damage. not to mention the laser slots that remain, if you use them.

Of course, the arm has less armor, and thus will likely go faster than the torso. so eugh. I don't know. Would require testing.

IMO if it didn't have the LT/RT hitboxes the XL300/AC40 Jager would basically be 2 Splatcat 2 Furious. My experience fighting them is that the hitboxes are a huge weakness, but that a good pilot can do a reasonable job of keeping the thing alive with torso rolling. They're sort of like Phracts in that respect.

I no like this mech I buy a jagger jm6 I put 2 ac5 4 medium laser new case and heatsinks I put full armor 60% front 40% rear and it die's so easy get hit 1-2 times it die's it is a very bad mech it look good I like load out but it's still bad mech and die's. So I think it need's fixed even my little jenner can take more hits and it a light mech.

It can be equipped with the equivalent armor of a catapult. I'm guessing the catapult is just as easy to hit. Medium mechs even more.

2ac5 isn't going to accomplish much for sniping, either. Well, it can, but there's damage potential wasted if you do.

Try a more sniper approach...2 gauss or 4 ac2. Think you might like the outcome better.

Jager suffers at the moment because ballistics underperform compared to energy weapons. They were terrible compared to missiles but those just got nerfed hardcore.

Jager would be better if PPC wasn't so energy efficient (probably too much atm).

Ballistics need some edge to make them better or this guy is just going to be the replacement double AC/20 mech.

I wouldn't run an XL in the Jager.

So, the point of the jager is to be epic slow ballistic mech? when PPC is better and now apparently faster and better armored mech? hmmm.... jager is DOA?
