still thinking up builds...
you can also put in 2 ac5s to take advantage of your 2nd ballistic hard point
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...bf8a37a33378b3a
less alpha but shoots faster and farther then ac20 (higher dps overall 2)

i would also consider replacing ac/20 with smaller acs to save weight since with ballistic weapons bigger weapons arent overall the best compared to the other weapon types (ex. large energy laser has strongest beam highest dps and best range)

unfortunately 2 smaller weapons are also rarely lighter then 1 big one when it comes to ballistics

I decided it was time to bring out the big guns.

Been thinking about starting with Stalkers, -3F first.

My first idea is this:

STK-3F near stock

Slight modification of the stock build.

My second idea:

STK-3F v2

Bigger engine and smaller SRM. Also bit less ammo.

How would you guys optimize this?

Thanks!

Newcomer to the game. After playing about 30+ matches or so, and doing some extensive reading, I decided to make a purchase and put this Ilya Muromets together.

both looking pretty good (little hot though) one thing you could do with the second one is remove some leg armor to make room for something else, or remove a few heat sinks to make room for fero armor get in 2 srm 4s, but thats about it with those weapons

Hi guys,

I'm using a Cataphract 1X and wanted some recommendations

I'll do a detailed breakdown of my current setup when I get in tonight but what I have in my mechlab is

Standard 280 engine
2x PPCs
4x Medium Lasers
1x Guass Cannon
1x AC10

My current mech setup is 3x medium lasers, 1x PPC & 1x AC10

I have about 3m cBills, and was thinking about buying a XL280 engine which would allow me to move things round a bit, as I find I've got too many lasers and keep overheating when it comes to close range firefights.

Any obvious recommendations for me would be most appreciated.

I think I'll swap the SRM6 for SRM4 on my first design. Doing that will let me max armor and put a BAP in.

I'm still torn between ER PPC and PPC.

Curious.

On V2, how do you assign those weapons groups into 3, 4 max?

Thanks. :P

It's all hypothetical since I haven't bought the thing yet but I'll group them like this:

LMB: ER PPCs
MMB: LRMs
RMB: MLs + SRMs
MB4: MLs

for choosing, i would recommend paying close attention to the range finder on the aiming cursor when fighting like you would normally, if targets are farther away then 540m or with in 90m, use er ppcs

i recommend putting guass ammo around the gauss rifles and in the torso with the mediums to prevent those from getting destroyed prematurely

more things in a limb, the less likely each item is to get hit, and guass ammo doesn't explode but the rifle does, so use it as cushioning to help you keep your weapons for as long as possible once armor is stripped

Well your first upgrade if you don't have any yet is to get double heatsinks. It makes a huge difference in heat efficiency.

After that I think you should probably evaluate what you want to get out of your mech. There are lots of builds possible on the 1X but your weapons currently don't give a clear idea of what you're after. What would you like to get out of your mech?

Ok, so what I think I want is some long distance energy weapons but also some close combat weapons that don't give out too much heat.

So I need another seasoned eye looking in on this. With my first "owned" mech, I decided to blow my money on a Cicada 3C (whups). With my second, I wanted an LRM boat, and have always love the Stalker. I got a 5S, and eventually settled on a build with the following lineup: LRM15 x2, LRM10 x2, ML x4, AMS x2, TAG, BAP (the last two being practically required given ECM).

Still, my build has some issues that I've been thinking about correcting for (now that I'm building up my third Stalker). It had an XL engine, which seemed like a good idea at the time, but after making a brawler 5M with a standard engine, I'm starting to see what everyone's saying about not going XL on the Stalker.

So I'm trying to make this version a bit faster, a bit more efficient, and with a standard engine, without losing too much punch.

Here's what I came up with.

Version #1 (less armor, slightly faster, slightly less ammo, runs hot):

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...99362495f7a66aa

Version #2 (full armor, about 10kph faster, slightly less ammo, lighter punch with the LRM5s):

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...52098e4f08085dd

Please halp?

just so ya know, stalkers dont actually make very good lrm boats, they are good at carrieing lots of weapons, maybe like 2 lrm10s/20s mixed in but its not really a good idea to use a stalker for an lrm boa, even though they are pretty common....

t

try using a catapault if you dont mind having almost no other weapons aside from lrms (and maybe like 2 medium laserz) catapult is by far the best lrm boating mech in this game, stalker cant touch it

ok so the formating went a little wonky on that 1....

btw you should consider using lrm10s in the arms, then you wont waste as much ammo with misses and you will be more efficient and have more tonnage to play with

this build would be better on the 3H variant (the best lrm boat if you dont mind the energy hard points its lacking, and your build doesn't use them and it also doesn't use dual ams)

So I've been using Ilya Muromets for a while now, and I actually started using Cataphracts just to get Mastery efficiencies on it. So I've been trying to get 100% optimization on it and I am wondering if there's anything that I can do to make this build better.

It is optimized in principle. However, to my taste, I would get rid of AMS (at least for now, while missiles are ****) and take XL300, or additional heat sinks instead. You decide which is more important for you. I would also check whether you really need that much ammo. Try to check like 10 matches and see how much ammo you have by the end of every match. Maybe you can cut on 1 or 2 tons of ammo. Maybe you need all of it...
