i find this almost unbelievable. but guess what, give the community a NWN2esque toolset and blammo, problem solved. MAPS MADE FOR FREEEE!!! and more than you could shake a stick at. the player would have to be responsible for downloading it for it to even find him a match for it (perhaps) that way not everyone would have to have maps they may or may not want. maps could even be rated, and ones that get a really bad rating would be deleted after x amount of ratings and or days. and oooh, here's an idea, they could charge per DL of a map, oooOOoooh, or DL for maps period. "This map is 1,000MC"

$100k saved, problem solved. possibly a fast way to make more money without making us sit through commercials. :D

the problem with this is 99.999% of community made anything in a game is unusable crap and the majority of what remains is at best unimaginative. the general populis is horrible at designing anything. every so often good things are produced by players, but these good ideas will come at a far slower rate than what we get now.

most of what we will see designed is sniper nests surrounding massive open fields. maps that are as cold as the engine will allow so people can more readily use energy builds that horribly fail normal maps. maybe just a series of tunnels (to stop LRM) with many short corridors and sharp turns and lots of fog perfect for ambushing. maps as hot a feasibly possible so that any build that uses energy weapons fires once and then shuts down.

no thanks

just 2 things to say about this poll,

firsdtly we already have adds when we start up our mwo client theres a lot of them and people got so annoyed that they had to change it so you can skip them with spacebar now.

secondly, they already made a **** ton of money from the founders program, and will again when they do the server split.

the real question should be- "where the hell did the millions of dollars that pgi made from founders programs go?"

I wouldn't mind it, but I don't think it would be much of an earner. Selling ad space becomes increasingly more difficult with decreasing audience size, and advertising execs are extremely stodgy. I can't think of a single F2P game that makes use of such a system, and the closest approximation I know of is in-game advertising, which has failed to take off in spite of serious backing from several major publishers.

1: Those "ads" are not ads, they're the "production credits", which are how you know what companies developed and produced/published the game. Every game has them. And skipping has been around since Alpha.

2: That money went to repay the publisher (IGP) for expenditures on getting MW:O funded, developed, etc.

3: Stop asking stupid questions.

I've paid for the Founder package and plenty of MC since the game went to Open Beta. Enough to have purchased 6 premium new release titles for the PC. That is my support for PGI. No adds, no adverts. I won't pay to not have them either, I already contribute enough to the pot and I don't have a problem continuing to support the game directly by purchasing ingame aesthetics for as long as I enjoy playing.

I'm not looking for P2W either, I'm the sad customer that enjoys buying Dazzle or Digital Camo with a variety of premium paint colours. Gotta be a unique snowflake..
