It's really simple. We are sick of ECm being a Frankenstein of all the ecm suites, which, surprise, surprise, is broken.

If you want to have ecm be all the ecms, then also make it the 4.5 tons, requiring a command console, and taking up 4x the slots.

Guardian ECM should only
-Increase lock on time for missiles
-Decrease range where you can detect mechs
-In air missiles lose lock at random intervals (Which can be negated by target decay)
TAKE OUT
-Null Sig
-no missile locks

ECM was a OP solution to an OP problem, and now its time to start rolling back mistakes and actually start balancing the game in a sustainable way.

I 100% agree! ECM has been infused with magic in MWO. It should either be split into several components with more weight, or be heavier over all.

I do agree, ecm should go away from what is now, and be only passive, denying lock on or radar detection up to a certain range, to be an alternative to AMS and to allow undetected infiltration to enemy lines.

No Situational Awareness destruction, no counter modes, ECM affects only the bearer. The bearer gets into 250-300m from any enemy mech he becomes spotted, can be targeted and locked on (of course slowly, unless tagged or unless there's someone nearby him with BAP) by all the other team members.

BAP+Advanced sensor ranges should bolster detection range for enemies under ECM. Do this and you will be able to deal with ECM with reason, you could enjoy also non-ecm variants and so on.

Like it is now, 80% of the atlases I see are D-DCs, 80% of the lights I see are those with ECM (the other 15% is of those who are exping the other variants to elite the ecm ones, 5% is for those hardcore going with jenners or enjoying other variants), all cicadas are 3M or X-5s.

Yep. I would actually be fine with ECM granting 25% sensor stealth as well. But not the 75% it currently gives. That is WAY too much. Null Signature System should give 75% stealth though, but shouldn't stack with ECM, since ECM is already built-in to NSS inherently.

With ECM giving 25% stealth and NSS giving 75% stealth, this is how it would look:

Standard Detection Range = 800m
BAP = 800m +25% = 1000m
Adv. Sensor Module + BAP = 800m +50% = 1200m

Standard Detection Range vs ECM = 800m -25% = 600m
BAP vs ECM = 1000m -25% = 750m
ASM + BAP vs ECM = 1200m -25% = 900m

Standard Detection Range vs Null Signature System = 800m - 75% = 200m
BAP vs NSS = 1000m - 75% = 250m
ASM + BAP vs NSS = 1200m - 75% = 300m

So basically if you want stealth you have to use NSS on your mech. Which is how it should be.

Glad to see that there are some true MW/BT fans out there who want justice.

I also forgot that the current for it should also produce heat like crazy.

Keep up the post and the likes so we can get a hotfix, and hopefully make this game less of mechassault of duty and more like mechwarrior 5

I agree for the most part, but we (on the forums) have been over this time and time and time and time again.

The point of this thread isn't to has out what people who never played a MW or BT think ECM should do, but to point out that ECM was fine in MW4, and they should just do that, and do it quickly because we are sick and tired of adding in even more broken things to fix your broken things.

So throw up a like and get every one and your moms to +like and comment so we can see a hot fix soon and play MW5 instead of Mechassault of duty.

But then Streak Cats return, because boating streaks was pretty much the only reason they even implemented ECM. ;_;
Just kidding; I agree; the longer missile lock time is enough, though I'm not sure about the missiles losing lock at random intervals.

Definitely the NSS needs to be removed, and the complete negation of missiles.

From my point of view, ECM works perfect as it is now.

There is absolutly no need to change anything on the ECM.

On my last 100 matches, i often did not even notice that enemy has ECM. :D

While all of this has been said before in the Mega ECM thread, we can only pray PGI agrees with common sense.

And that's why the devs need to be criticized for balance mistakes until they "get it."

Keep liking this thread, keeping it alive, and spam it to the devs to make them get it!

If implemented as the op suggests, then all mechs should the option to get it.

Not just all light mechs, any mech. It suddenly doesn't become a big deal how many mechs carry ecm since it's not the godmode it is now.

In addition to having the Null Sig removed, ECM should also get/keep its tabletop capabilities like nullifying Artemis, BAP, NARC, and TAG. Once the Null Sig is removed, it can go back to having its real purpose - to counter special electronics buffs like those I just listed.

As usual, making things canon fixes balance issues.
