It's a point well taken Indoorsman, I think a lot of people underestimate the value of going for the legs. I like to leg lights, Cents, and Assaults (especially if the armour turns a delicious shade of orange on the first hit)

That said, I think you and your Jenner buddy could have made mincemeat out of half the enemies in those videos no matter where you aimed. To me, the videos showed less about the power of legging and more about the power of working in tandem with a similarly skilled wingman ;) In fact, you could make a strong argument that some of them could have been taken out faster by you and your friend going for the backplate!

In 200 matches in my D-DC, i've only been legged *once*. My various builds had leg armor in the 57 or 49 point range.
Also, only lost a leg twice in my stalker in 100 matches.

People don't generally go for the legs of an assault mech since there's so much more putting the hurt on you from up there in the torso. Everyone and their grandmother is going for my AC20 torso and then for my SRM torso... Only one guy went for the leg... i probably got hit by something by mistake and he noticed the low(er) leg armor (49 isn't low by any standards... that's about the CT armor of a lot of mechs ;) ). But they can't take concentrated fire.

My answer as to why I don't leg is because if that Atlas pilot hasn't shaved his legs, they have more armor than most mechs

Atlas legs are also easier to hit than the CT of most mechs and can be hit from 360°

I get legged alot in my Cent. Run max armour but I figure people know its faster to shoot the legs rather than 2 arms/torso's to kill me.
