When it makes an appearance, this is how most people react.

I've seen it twice, both during tournaments, and had no idea what it was.

Ya, my TBT-7M has the NARC still in it.

And it makes me said everytime I use it and land the darn thing. "Yes! NARC beacon attached! Oh...it's gone already...".

I am not sure where to go with it. I can only suggestion removing the X damage taken duration and up the time duration to 45s or 60s.

But, every time I take my TBT-7M close to the enemy to NARC so that I can back away and hit the target hard, it is already removed.

My guess is NARC was intended to be used in joint operations between a light mech and an LRM boat instead of a single mech operating alone.

Unfortunately that doesn't happen very often.

Narc was pretty useless in tabletop too.

NARC would be a hell of a lot more usefull if the tagged mech was targetable by everyone without the narc-er having to keep a lock :/ edit for clarity:untill the section it's attached to gets destroyed of course

It doesn't happen often because it doesn't work. The NARC beacon disappears too quickly to be useful, even if you aren't getting jammed by ECM.

NARC should last until the armor section the NARC beacon hits gets destroyed - no time limit. It should constantly broadcast your signal to the enemy, letting them know where you are and lock onto you regardless of cover. ECM can still suppress the signal, but that's about it. It should be a very nice piece of equipment, as it's the heaviest thing we have in the information warfare arsenal, and it's ammo-dependent to boot. Being hit with a NARC beacon should be a huge 'oh ****' moment for the target.

Right now? It's not worth the effort.

It's a dumb fire rocket that flies at less than 1/3rd the speed of an AC20 round at 270m with an effect that only lasts 20s. It's damn near impossible to use without getting shot in the face.

Mostly because of the relatively short combat life of a mech once it starts taking serious fire.

If TT narc existed in MWO it would be crazy powerful. One hit, and you can be targeted by indirect fire LRMs with artemis-like spread for the rest of the game, with no spotter necessary.

One time I fought against a Raven 3L armed with nothing but a narc, a tag and two flamers.

It made me overheat twice before I blew it up with my twin machineguns.

True story.

it really needs more ammo per ton. i also agree with everyone who said it's always gone too quickly. I don't think it should last until the narc'd mech dies, but currently i feel like the narc is falling as soon as the target mech takes ANY damage, which i think is just toooo fragile.

what made you overheat was your own ERPPC.

Nah, I wouldn't want to play any version of MWO that allowed enemy teams to focus fire LRMs on you with absolutely nothing you could do about it.

Qft.

This sort of teamwork has all but disappeared thanks to ecm. The only remnant of it is the occasional "tag light with skill" which are few and far between.

For the most part, lrm users have to support themselves now, hosting their own tag or (shudder) narc.
