So creative director update comes out, and still no mention of the issues around community warfare? I am sorry, I for one will not be putting any more money, or playing the game until those questions are answered officially. I do not know if PGI thinks these will just go away, or what the deal is but I would think this should be a pretty high priority right now.

QFT. Seriously, this should've been the first thing out this morning.

I didn't rage or complain with the rest of the peeps initially, but not addressing an obviously IMPORTANT issue even remotely is really ******* me off.

‏@Druidika @bryanekman Will there be a post detailing how CW is going to work? There was quite an outcry over the Polygon interview.

‏@bryanekman @Druidika I will be doing a series of posts over the coming weeks and months. It's a huge feature.

as much as i know ill like this part of the game, i still wish Merc and House factions could also fight each other.

I mean its called COMMUNITY WARFARE right? So again... why is the community split? Yeah Merc units can fight Merc units and its a given that Houses go at it all the time but Merc units do in fact get payed to take on larger House faction so why cant we do it here? I dont get why we the COMMUNITY are being split in this manor. I have friends that are in House factions and id love to be able to fight with them (under their contract) or against them if my Merc unit is contacted to take a world from the House faction they are in. That will never happen under these Merc vs Merc and House vs House only perimeters.

Why would they do this? I thought that community, the definition of the words pretty obvious, would mean we would be able to fight as a community against a community. So why are we a Sectioned Community Warfare now? What's the point of supporting a franchise and the community that goes with it when you cordon us off from each other? Do we see other MMO's doing this? I wouldn't know this is the first MMO I've actually been exited about enough to play. Very disappointed in PGI.

shhh it has been unpinned, maybe it will slip away to the depths of the forms and the new ECM debate will make them all forget about p2p CW.

Faction Warfare sounds great, and I'm enjoying the current Lone Wolf stuff, and I certainly don't have an issue with people wanting to monetise the setting up of a corp. Where I'd have concerns is if they do end up charging you what sounds like a monthly fee to be a member of that corp.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong?
http://www.polygon.c...ild-and-faction

As long as I get to do what I'm doing now, though, and am not thoroughly gimped (any more than I am by just being crap at the game) by some kind of Pay To Win model, I'm basically happy.

What devs need to consider, however, is the whole concept of 'gold ammo' or other P2W equivalent, and what it did to the communities in other games. Eve Online springs to mind, with this threadnaught.

So I guess we can be pretty sure we aren't getting a proper command chair post on this topic any time soon then.

I am le shocked, as soon as the outrage died down PGI went back to not communicating, terribly disappointed at the precedent being set that PGI only responds in a prompt fashion when there is large community backlash :P

It basically ensures that every one will rage when the next bit of badly communicated information arrives when we want clarity.

It also ensures we end up with a rift in the player base with half of us at each others throats.

This is terrible community management no matter how you look at it.

Edit:

In an effort to promote community unity, I think every one here can agree we all want MWO to be a good game and that we want it to succeed, I think every one needs to keep that in mind when some one states something you think is damaging.

Regardless of whether they are disagreeing with you, they are doing so because they want the game to do as well as possible, we all have different opinions on what is right and fair but ultimately we all want to play mech warrior and pew pew our enemies and have a good time.
I've certainly fallen foul of this in the past, I don't intend to do so in the future. Just keep that in mind the next time some one is raging (your words not mine) that they are doing so because they love this game and don't want to see it fail.

A those who have read my posts. I am one of the most outspoken persons on the forum attacking PCI when I think they and the money men are wrong. On the interview I was surprised about one thing when he talked about battles between the houses. If I had not just got out of a bread truck, That you could as you wish fight for the house you like and also be a Merc, or a lone wolf. thinking that it is what it means the game should do great because many new players lone wolf would get to be involved and have time to understand the history the houses and Merc units not to mention the Clans which are coming. These are the ones that will make or break the game. I knew nothing about Battletech when I played 3025 but being given a chance to play community warfare, I learned about the books and what the really was. Not a shoot bang game like some but a team sport where bonds are built and broken. At this point for those who have been around a long time will agree it is maybe the most addictive games their is. If we take the money out of the issue then this game will become a monster smash. I really hope so.

Im just ammazed at the declining lack of quality PR since this game went open beta. I know these guys have lots to do, but there sure seem like there's a missing link in PGI/IGP's public relations. In other words, they really need a Public Relations Officer, State Secretary, Head of "this is what's happening". They need one person dedicated to the community - fulltime. Not like 6 or more doing it part-time, when they can.

I just like this guys signature. funny

My view: a complete lack of PR ... they've been on a virtual black out since open beta.

Now that the gates have opened, and they've given themselves a deadline for "release", I hope we start seeing more information start to flow. I hope their marketing team is a bunch of geniuses that attract millions of new paying customers, because over the last five months they've managed to upset a fair amount of the hundreds of thousands of us who are already paying customers.

re:

Everyone is filled with rage and disgruntlement at a small snippet that may or may not have been misinterpreted or what have you, I figured I'd draw attention to it.

I, for one, am chock full off Squee at the contents of this interview:
Lone Wolf gameplay: Exists for those who just want to drop and play, and don't care about CW or the Larger Story.
Faction gameplay: For the roleplayer sorts, who want to be a part of something larger, but don't want the hassle/responsibility of being a part of a large autonomous guild of players.
Merc gameplay: For the player who wants to be a part of a large guild of players, to be a part of something entirely player driven, who want direct control of their destiny.

This sounds downright awesome to me. I'd love to do the "Merc Gameplay" style of play, but generally speaking just can't devote the time necessary to do so; scheduled events are out for me. But on the other hand, I want more than the aimless drop-and-fight we have now. I want a purpose! So it looks like Faction gameplay will be the way to go for me, unless I happen across a Merc guild that can work for me.

All in all, the interview sounded pretty damn promising.

So, a /hattip to our developers, and while I'm sure this will be lost in the Open Forum Warfare, I for one am even more excited for Community Warfare than I was before this whole kerfluffle.

The idea that this man can call 12v12 being part of something larger is the real joke here.

So, do we know for sure if they will make you have a premium account to be in a Merc corp??

That's all I care about at this point *being in a merc corp* so I certainly hope it won't be a Pay to Play scenario.

If implemented as outlined there, I'm all for it and think its a neat system.

all the lastest infos they gave about CW seem to at least proof they stick to the initial concepts and improved on them.... sounds very good all in all, but we will see until end of the year how it turns out...
