This is just an updated poll to see the % of the community that is, may try, or will never try using the cool shot consumables.

Also... lets PLEASE keep it clean and not bash one another on if you believe they are P2W, right, wrong and anything else. Discussion is fine but please no bashing or flaming each other.

I Have updated the poll with 2 more options.

Tried one in the training grounds just to see how it functions, but I have never used one in a real mach.

I would prefer to build my mechs with heat efficiency in mind and have better self control when using my weapons. I personally believe that if I started becoming dependent on cool shot modules it would make me a worse player, I would rather be in full control for the entire match instead being dependent on cool shots then being less efficient once they are used.

I bought the good one (WITH MC, because f-u gxp) just to see if they are worth using before I start spending out-of-pocket AND a massive gxp investment.

I still haven't used it. I really need to do that. I feel like 18 isn't enough to bother with, but it might change my opinion.

I'm a cheap ******* / self-made mercenary and can't cost justify 10k so I've done my best to stay out of the consumables drama. I do want to pick one up sometime and give it a whirl, but I'm also a lazy ******* so I never get around to it.

hard to exploit a single use consumable that doesn't really do much If you have a heat efficient build xD

Haven't used it yet.

Mainly, I forget to buy it and I launch.

40k is cheap so at some point I will get one.

I use the C-bill versions of Cool Shot quite often in my Laser boats. ;)

They appear to be most useful in fast-paced, short battles, keeping the DPS high just for one extra second or two to finish off a damaged 'Mech, or to quickly backstab a unwary or shutdown 'Mech whilst removing or reducing the inconvenience of a shutdown sequence or the danger involved with overriding it.

I'd like a poll option -

Have not used them, will not use them, don't need to use them.

I have yet to use them.

Its possibly because my mechs tend to run pretty cool. I have like...28 heat sinks in my Stalker and I still overheat.

Where is the option, have tried them, but won't use them again. They really don't do all that much, easier to just keep my finger off the trigger.

I have the 9x9 and the 6 on like all my mechs, but haven't really used them yet.

It's only 28.8 heat dissipation, so it's hard to find a situation where using it would actually help. For me I'm either in a situation where I'm fighting a single enemy and don't need to flush, or I'm fighting multiple enemies and a flush wouldn't help anyway

Very niche use, especially as it will cost me 60k if I decide to use it.

Used one of the cheap ones just to see how it works. I'll stick with my heat efficient builds and pilot skill instead of using a crutch.

I dont think PGI ever pretended the light version would ever be worth using. Even in the previous math that you people cried down the river, they weren't very useful (15% isn't great).

The only one POTENTIALL worth using is the 18. Granted, it kind of also needs the +20% perk, and then you've spent 30k (ad 40k cb per use) to flush 20-something heat.

I wasn't happy with the top tier being MC only, but I LIKED that they were USEFUL. Not MANDATORY, USEFUL. Now they're not useful, and the top tier can be free. Meaning, PGI will have to find some other way to make regular money on this game. I doubt the next thing will be as catering to the trail of tears.

As people repeatedly say on all sorts of balancing issues i guess i finally get to say it L2P.

I think coolant flush is a crutch and will not make you a better mechwarrior, if you find yourself approaching a high heat situation where you need this to save you and ymanage to kill the enemy, next time in the same match you will push the heat envelope yet again but not have any flushes left to save you the second time.

I would advocate people especially new players to play a large portion of matches without coolant flush before they think they want to try it, otherwise they will get into more trouble in the long run.. Or if you are on the opposing team to me, hey use it all you want ;)

I've been messing with the CB verions (6 & 9). They're not dramatic but can make a difference in a pitched fight earning you one or two more shots than normal. Definitely not a replacement for heat efficiency/management. I will probably continue to use them as 10-50k CB is an inexpensive investment for a pinch hit.

The MC version should not exist and should be changed to CB or XP costs - it's not acceptable to have the best version as a cash item no matter how minimal the effect.

As for the people saying it's a crutch - I think you're trying to justify a misguided nobility. There is a tool - and it may help you win. If you willingly decide to not use the tool you also forfeit the right to complain when you are defeated by someone who does. I play to win myself - noblesse oblige is dead.

What about those who bought the Cbill version but never got the chance to use it at all? Due to not needing it lol
