Well then keep in mind while a liberal democracy like the United States is able to prosper in our modern era, in the feudal/ultra-militarized battletech universe the Free Worlds League has fallen:

i was doing third reich vs the clans. it would be easy, have you seen the ranges they can shoot? like all of their weapons have 50 range. get like 30 and the clans won't even be able to get into range.

According to the rules and armor values a single Clan mech sporting a small laser can destroy a nearly endless amount of Panzers. I paired the two because they both have a "Warrior Culture" theme, though the Clans are an actual warrior culture whereas the Third Reich was ruled by frauds.

however the extreme range for the panzer's gun in 130 hexes. their long is 60 medium is like 30 and short is like 10. it can shoot well before any clan mech that is not supporting artillery can.

That is only when it is facing ww2 vehicles because they have equivalent movement/dodge abilities. As noted when facing units from the Age of War+ the guns have their respective Battletech counter-part weapon stats i.e. Panzer= Medium Recoiless Rifle, which has much less range. And since they have no sensors, +2 to-hit vs a standard military Battletech unit. And even if they hit, at BAR 5 they do zero damage to a Mech's BAR 10 armor.

Iron Sights Gunnery (Air and Ground Combat)
Despite the lack of targeting technologies and advanced sensors, gunners and pilots in the days of World War II remained quite capable of hitting each other in battle. In fact, this kind of iron-sights targeting—for which all pilots and tank crews were trained—combined with the lack of targeting technologies and ambient electromagnetic interference to generate the ability to deliver attacks at far greater ranges than weapons of the ages to come.

To reflect this, the 1945 Gameplay Weapons Table provides the effective combat ranges for all featured weapons, including Short, Medium, Long, and Extreme range. (The Aerospace Max Range applies only when such weapons are mounted on airborne units, though it should be noted that tank cannons may not be mounted on airborne units, and bombs have no aerospace range as they are used only for air-to-ground attacks.)

The special LOS Range (see p. 85, TO) can even be used by gunners of particularly fearsome skill. Furthermore, since all military units built for this era are treated as though they have no intrinsic sensor technology, the usual +2 to-hit modifier for possessing No Fire Control does not apply.

Because they have only used IRON SIGHTS, and, it is drummed into their heads, their ranges are different. So they can hit the broad side of a Mech Bay. They just cannot penetrate it.

i think that a 75mm gun can hurt at ac/2 ranges. the shell is 3 times the size.

Interesting april fools troll they did here...

Of course, if it was legit, it might answer the question of BT weapons vs "rl" armor.
