I've always been a fan of Ravens.

The variant doesn't matter, I just love how they look.

I also like the idea of being an elusive ******* when I'm in a light mech, so the ECM makes it a double score.

The Fire Javelin variant of the Javelin, FS9-M Mirage variant of the Firestarter, Panther, Valkyrie, or Wolfhound. Got to go with a good mix of speed, armor, and firepower (though the Fire Javelin is a little light on firepower.)

For light 'mechs, you can't beat a Jenner. And if you can start personalizing it, even better. While a Jenner is not as fast as most light 'mechs, its standard weapon layout of 4 medium lasers and a SRM 6 launcher give it more teeth then even some medium 'mechs. Although I am not sure if I will be allowed to do it in this game, my standard change is removing the SRM 6, bringing the lasers from the arms to the torso, increasing the engine slightly and load up on heat sinks. The extra speed from the engine, coupled with the reduce heat thanks to the heat sinks allow the Jenner to easily attack all but a Battlemaster. (Damn rear firing weapons.) Other options, include adding 2 more medium lasers instead of the engine modification. Most heavies tend to rethink their tactics when something that size rips off an arm or a leg in two hits.

Wasn´t it a SRM4???

I wonder why you forgot Jenner - F when you talk about FireJav and Starter-Mirage...

Did someone mention the Eridani-Locust jet?

While technically NOT a circa 3050-design, the Owens doesn't really have any tech that isn't available in 3050. The only problem with it is that it IS an omnimech (IS design omni), but depending on how easily the Jenner can be upgraded and what you're planning to arm it with, I guess it's not totally out of the realm of possibility. Still, try to keep everything in 3025-3050 timeframe... say, no later than 3051 production date, seeing as that's when the Clans invade and take out a majority of the Houses ability to produce new mechs.

The fact that the Owens is an Omni is the tech that it's missing in 3050, since no IS Omnis exist until they get it together for the Raptor in 3052. Close, but juuuust a bit outside. The poor Jenner gets some horrid upgrades early on, including yanking part of it's already fragile armor for CASE.

Valkyrie VLK-QA has always been my favorite pre-3050 light mech.

Make this another vote for the Valk. Fast enough to scout, yet still has enough firepower to be an effective harrasser. With the range of the LRMs it can be pretty annoying by staying out of range or behind hills.

Fortunately, it was quite easily re-arted.

Yes please. I would really like to see this (and all of the other redesigned Reseen) in game.

Honestly I was always thrown off by the Jenners whole forward thrust cockpit. The way it is always drawn, cockpit hits on the Jenner should be more common than ct hits :D. Stat wise it is another excellent design no doubt, just have never really been a fan of the artwork of the design.

What a lot of folks forget is viewport does not = cockpit. It's the same reason a Timber Wolf's "head" is actually smaller than it's "windshield"- much of that is just transparent armor. Not -quite- as efficient, but it's plenty protective.

Locust, Mongoose, Raven or Wolfhound.. Also wouldn't say no to a Mercury.. Liked how they looked and with the exception of the Locust were all really good 'mechs.. the Locust was "common" but during the 3025 era it was my favorite recon 'mech.

Edit: Also, like one of the Above posters, which I noticed after my own went up.. A Valkyrie.. forgot all about that one, that was a solid recon mech with a good punch.

Firebee for me. if i can get that mech into a mechlab i could make it into a devastating mech specialising in urban enviroments.
In short a light mech that hunts all slow mechs no matter how big they are and it tears them asunder through frequent ambushes and hit & runs.

Edit: Yeah i know. I can only afford two mistakes and then my armor or mobility will be gone. Risky but the thrills would be amazing.

locust, jenner, raven...kinda like those...most of the lights appear too much "manga-ish" to me, but thats a matter of taste i think :)

hrmm this is a tough one .. Inner sphere only. i'd go with a spider just because i prefer having hands and being fast. jump jets are a big plus. i might choose an Ottscout even tho it lacks hands for the extra armor.

Clan wise. Can't go wrong with an Adder (puma) primary 35 tons and packs a hell of a punch that even assault mechs fear with speed at long range.

Depends on what I'm doing with the light. If it's for recon? I'm going with either the Mongoose or the Raven. If I'm taking out lights and mediums? I'll go with the Wolfhound or the Panther.

The Raven, both for being my all time favorite, and for being a general sneaky li'l critter with dirty ECM, support, and joint strike abilities.

Outside of that, I have a big soft spot for Firestarters, because Flamers.

There is an unacceptable lack of people saying Javelin/Fire Javelin in this thread.

My top three picks for lights that I would pilot: Commando, Raven, Valkyrie.

I have a lot of love and respect for those three. :)
