MWO uses Synesthesia on Mister Blastman. It's super effective!

Drivers have nothing to do with the fact that artillery content fails continuously, the new hero mechs sound doesn't play, and a third of players in any given match don't have a functioning HUD.

Hell, this game SHOULD WORK WITH OLDER DRIVERS, THAT IS NOT AN EXCUSE.

Arty works for me, I hear the hero mech, and my hud works.

Just a data point.

This would truly be hilarious if you said the same thing about his car, water faucet, or front door. Built to last!

I will say it about his car. If he didn't perform regular maintenance on his car such as change the oil, refill various fluids, or rotate/buy new tires on a regular basis do you think his car would continue to function? Updating drivers and software is simply part of the maintenance.

Update your drivers, I'm using 314 series, and I have none of these problems.

Yes, use 3.14 series... I have no problems either. They DID post to please update drivers and that there were issues.

This is all on YOU, not PGI.

The point here is that those driver used to work then something changed, the problem is not necessarily in the drivers, most likely in the changes.

Mess with the bull, you get the horns. New drivers exist for a reason and you don't have to run quite so many versions back.

Falcon BMS is a fan-made coding project of a simulator released in 1998... 1998! There's a lot you don't know about running high-end flight simulators and one of the most important things is don't mess around with newer drivers. There's a loooooooong history of them messing things up.

Oh, and FYI, I have older Nvidia drivers--306.97.

Well obviously that's not an issue.

A better analogy would be installing a radio into the car or new rims. Computers don't consume and destroy software like a car does oil or tires.

However, it is unlikely a company is going to waste QA time testing older drivers when the expectation is that the newer drivers are out there. In fact it might be compiled under the assumption that something available in the new driver will be there. :P

Same engine, just a minor patch to an existing game, I find in unlikely that something like this requires a "new feature" in a driver, feature that should have happened in both AMD and NV drivers incidentally.

It looks like a bug and smells like a bug.

So you admit to running delicate software on outdated drivers and then complain that a modern game wants you to have drivers less than 6 months old. Hell - Windows Update nags you about Nvidia drivers now as well...

It's not an old driver, it's from Oct 2012. On top it was Nvidia's recommended driver for the windows 8 roll-out. It should be doing fine on a DX9 title. Of course it's easier to blame others.

True, but you also can't set a car back to "factory state" like you can a computer.

You still have to defrag it, and do other basic maintenance on a computer just like you have to do with any machine. I don't know why some people think they are magical and doesn't require work to keep running. Every work on a friend's computer and wonder if dust bunnies had been mating inside it? :P

During testing we ran into a crash issue that only occurred using Nvidia 311.xx drivers, drivers before 311 tested fine as did drivers after 311. The 311 drivers have since been removed from the Nvidia website. If you are using 311.xx drivers YOU MUST UPDATE YOUR DRIVERS failure to do so will likely result in a low frequency (3 out of 10 games from our tests) crash when playing the game.

You were saying?

Moving to Patch Feeddback, as this is about bugs in the latest patch, and patch-related problems.

Really? you must never have played any other MMO because most have some bug issues each patch, as someone who's done some programming i can tell you just because it works on your test machines there's no sure fire way to know it'll do the same once it goes live.

Hell i have a friend who plays civ5 alot, it got patched a few months back before it worked flawlessly now it crashes after 400 turns, and its not as easy to fix stuff like that as some people want to believe.

Its annoying sure, but its not like its PGI's thats the only dev to have such issues, welcome to the internet age where "we'll patch it later" has become the dev's most repeated mantra.

You think companies test every variation of old driver OS that exists for each chipset? HAH!

Especially one that puts out a patch every month? HAH!

Yes that doesn't explain the other issues... but... Old drivers... LOL.

Yeah, old drivers. One month, two, more. They don't make dramatic changes per drive and some effort towards a modicum of backwards compatibility just makes them look barely competent. Not even great, just barely competent.

No kidding.. I think I implied that. However, like I said they are not going to catch said bug because they probably only test on computers that are up to date. So if a bug does crop up and it is version specific to the driver... then it probably isn't PGI's bug. :P
