To me it is an issue of Thermal look TERRIBLE. Whatever, sure, I have issues with the range restiction too. And those objections are actually based in lore (Where mechwarriors ALMOST NEVER EVER EVER EVER use normal vision, instead relying on thermal or metallic vision for fighting).

But even from a level of pure aesthetics, the new Thermal mode looks TERRIBLE. Whatever. I get the gameplay issue. I disagree. But I get it. Please, at least turn it back to the old mode and just leave the distance issue in. I don't care. But the grey mode? It's ugly and boring and effing worthless.

I like the new vision modes. I think they did a good job on them. And I can see why they made the changes they did.

So the OP is pissy because he can no longer use a two tone vision mode to snipe at people beyond the radar of his mech? He now has to work with a team. Dear god the OP is right!!! PGI failed when they took away a crutch for noobs who can only see if they have a big bright blob against a dark blue background. heaven forbid they adapt and start paying attention to what their teammates are trying to communicate to them.

ESPECIALLY THE SCOUTS!!

I love the new vision modes. My only complaint is that the mechs do not seem to glow more on Thermal when they are hot. Well, they do glow a little bit more, but I think heat generation should make them a bit brighter than they currently get.

And on River Sh*tty Night? Or intermittent blizzard Snow? Seeing as how, ya know, we can't select (or deselect) any particular map.

Maps have their advantages and disadvantages. Learn how to snipe at a closer range and your problems are solved.

I personally feel that the requirement to be to control your vision modules correctly depending on the battle situation in order to achieve competeitive advantage a good thing. I'm sorry but being able to have a module that gives you everything you want is unrealistic. However, I do agree that the current thermal and night vision both should remain works in progress.

Shooting closer mechs isnt sniping, which is my point.

It all simply ends up being a brawl and ecm buff without the choice of choosing maps. Which, if you brawl, love it. If you like ER weapons or long range autos, maybe not so much. Why have weapons capable of shooting at extreme ranges when you get a significant chance of landing on a map where you can't use them to full effect is my attempted point.

Everything, right from the get-go, has, is and will always be a work in progress.
You guys test it & give us feedback, we implement tweaks; rinse and repeat.
This is, so far, the second iteration.

Because advanced zoom is so usefull and wonderfull? Wish yall had to pay 2 mil each for your favored grainy, messy, limited slot, range vision mode.

They've stated they are going to revisit enhanced zoom.

Regular zoom works pretty well.

I like the new vision modes, heat moreso.

I just wish the green for nightvision was a bit darker. It's very neon even on night maps in certain areas.

Already been said that they are works in progress. Think of it as a long needed snipe nerf (and yes, I use those weapons too. Smurfwarrior was just recockulous)

I tend to both brawl and snipe. Technically what we have is not sniping anyways. Sniping is shooting from a concealed place whether it be short or long range. YOu can use long range weapons on RC night without brawling.

When Iam standing on top of a hill and a mech is only 150 meters below me and completely blends into the background then its freaking broke.

No way in hell a mech putting off that much heat is invisible against a rock formation.

The blue blobs was too obvious and the night vision needs tweaking but thermal doesn't look thermal IMO.

We wouldn't want giant robots brawling, now would we. No they must do 60 damage to a single point on each other and be near-death before actually getting close.

Oh wait.. I hate the new meta. Disregard.

I was combating enemy mechs at 700-1000 meters in River City Night using thermal by watching for their gunfire. It was actually really freakin' sweet.

I'm pretty happy with the new vision modes. Old heat vision made it way too easy to spot enemy mechs from across the map, and night vision was just plain bad. Now night vision is perfect and thermal seems just about right.

Nothing is more enjoyable than turning on night vision on Frozen City currently.

That'll teach me to test the new vision modes on that map. XD
