Because they aren't doing reduced damage at 3x their optimal range (270m) like all other ballistics.

They only start doing "damage" at 200m.

Add that to the pile of irregularities PGI....

The MG is the red-headed step-child of MWO weapons. Treated differently than every other weapon, differently than all the other ballistics, nerfed, beaten, and abused.

Someone at MWO must hate MGs with a passion to keep them in their current useless state for so long.

Add LBX-10, NARCs and Flamer to that conspiracy list, too

MG are actually Meele Weapons you have to throw them at your enemy to deal any damage.

I thought they were manual handicaps? Since they are a bigger threat to you than the guy you're aiming at (ammo 'splosion)

Does an ammunition explosion deals splash damage?

Actually, MG ammo used to have 0.08 damage per projectile for internal ammo explosions. That's fixed now though.

machine guns are a hybrid. game code treats them more like lasers, but from a player perspective they are ballistics treated as ballistics. drop off is suppose to be 90m - 200m so kind of a hybrid there too.

Sounds like someone forgot to dump the ammo on his Battlemaster. :P

Fixed.

MGs have always been unimpressive.

No one is trying to make machine guns the new medium laser. But it should be useful, shouldn't it? Why didn't everyone complain that the AC/2 wasn't supposed to be useful in TT either? I don't see any aircraft for it to shoot here...
