Yes I know that some have become aggro'ed on base caps from back in Close beta but, This game needs base caps in most game modes and this video is a great example of why....

As you can see A one legged Commando Vs a weaponless Jagermech.... without base caps I would of had two options run up and hug the commando and die OR hide like a coward

Edit for spelling

The jagermech can destroy the commando by running into it.

Or the game could just draw when no one has guns left.

I have actually seen this happen.
Quite an amazing story actually. Our team had a streak-mando left, and the other a near crippled hunchback with a couple of medium lasers.

With the commandos very last shot (no joke), he disarmed the hunchback. Both were effectively zombies, and both of them were sitting on the base cap. So, what did they do? They ran into each other until the commando blew up. We lost, but it was epic.

With collision damage in the shape it's in, I think the commando would just kill the Jager.

You miss understand. People hate base rush caps. Because everyone losses in this case due to the pathetic amount of exp and cbills you get. You're actually better off fighting and loosing then rush capping and winning.

Hey, I'm all for this kind of base capping.

It's the capping from the word go on Assault that drives me absolutely *******.

Agreed - base cap is fine, but base rush is <bleep>.
You can of course rush a fast mech in to cap, valid tactic to get one or two of them out of the frontline - just don't go all out for the cap.

And scout.
Most times a "base rush" is just a result of both teams not doing any scouting \ going around each other, which is just silly :(

i get mad from time to time when i have caprace matches. The problem is, they way the game works forces us to be blobed. Yes, there are exceptions, but most of the time it is smarter to have all your team in one direction.

In World of Tanks, you have the same caping mechanic (well, with the difference, that you can actually defend and decap your base...) but a lot more players per team. I GUESS that, and the way the maps are designed lead to the fact, that it is better to have your team split up and covering multiple areas. One reason of that is, that you can support each other over long distances, or on one map, you can get control of a hill in the middle of the map, which is a huge tactical advantage there.
We don't have those things here. One of the reasons is - I THINK - that mechs can walk up wherever they want. I am not talking about jumpjets here, but about mechs WALKING up steep hills.

Having capable bases is ok, but we need map, team and gameplay design to support this, capraces shouldn't be possible.

River City is the map where it seems to happen the most. First impulse is of course to split up the team, 4/4 and go upper and lower city. In that case, one of your lances will encounter 7 enemys, the other one will find that stupid enemy who didn't watch his map when he decided is 'tactic' is the best in the world and just assumed everyone will follow him because he was so awesome.

The guys encountering the 7 enemys will die pretty fast and then those 7 guys will come back to their base, because they know, that the time the took to kill those 4 guys will cost them a loss on the caprace. The remaining 4 guys will maybe kill one or 2 and then they will die, too.

So what do you do? right, you stay in one group and attempt to fight it out. Then you will have capraces again, because sometimes you will walk the way without any enemy and some guy with the smart idea to begin the cap to "lure the enemy back" will just push the caprace. no one will turn back, everyone will just hurry to the enemys base and whoever has more people there first wins.

Thats all talking about PUGMATCHES. In premade vs premade, things look a bit different. If i get caped there... well... my fault.

edit: wow, i did better jobs on talking and writing english... i but i think you should be able to get what i want to say.

This isn't the problem with base caps. It's the light mechs with cap accelerator who run straight there and base cap.

In before defend or run back, lol. I don't want to sit at base if the other team is sitting at base for 15 minutes either.

What I have noticed happening a lot now is this.

Not so much bases being capped first finishing the game. But bases being almost capped, then leave the cap and go fight. If things start to go bad they can get back and finish the cap fast.

its just annoying when a drop of assaults gets 3minutes out into the battle zone looking for a fight, then loose to a raven ninja who wasn't. :(

The problem isnt base capping. The problem is the base capping is poorly implemented. You should not be able to capture a base within the first 5-7 minutes of the game.

Yeah this is the map that capwarrior stuff happens alot... one team goes upper another goes lower and then no one wants to back up and fight just sit and cap.... I haven't had it happen to me much or ever that i can think of on other maps
