Or a combination of both. BTW, the servers are probably patched at the same time to support the updated client content.

2) The blackscreen bug is a latency bug. That is almost impossible to test for. As a senior network programmer, I know how hard (& expensive) it is to set up a latency test rig that "might" work for testing.

While the symptoms may have manifested themselves in relation to latency, diagnosing root cause as being latency is speculation in the absence of facts.

Some sort of global UAT may help when you are providing a global service.

As a Security Manager, under which systems monitoring is important, if global business is important to you, then you do global monitoring and UAT. If however, 80% of your user base is in the US, and the costs and risks of global UAT don't stack up, then you don't do it.

Was the black screen frustrating? Hells yeah. Did they address in in like 24 hours? Yup. How can we not be happy with that? Professional complainers will never be happy. The response was sufficient.

Now does PGI follow ITIL? Doubtful for a small organisation. But I hope this was a serious enough problem for them that they will look at steps necessary to catch these sorts of things before general release and that there will be a Command Chair post about their testing and deployment process. But they may not.

I do what I can for the community. If only I could do better...

That's kind of misleading. If you've kept up on you dev posts (Garth's from earlier today iirc) you should know that it worked internally, but it broke externally. i.e. if they could have found it internally they would have fixed it first. Unfortunately they couldn't, and unfortunately this is a common pattern. It is also likely why PGI insists that MWO is still in beta in spite of dissenting points of view. Let's face it, no one likes to do things twice, no one likes the public relations nightmare, and these things cost money to fix. So, it's not like they are doing shoddy work and then just doing damage control. They just can't get the test data they need until after it blows up on the live servers. You think its frustrating that you can't play a game? Try having 2 weeks worth of work fall apart and have a million people walk by screaming at you.

First off I have played beta before and before it goes live this the a Alpha test server that is outside on the internal one to have a mega test on for a week before roll out.Look at BSGO that have a test server that you give you all the ships, so you test thing they are about to go live and make comments before it does. So that is a lame excuse and is not a common problem

TLDR: I'm calling BS on your comment.

Second the person that giving me the information as I post was blaming it on us and drivers. Both were dead wrong so it was their POOR TASTE not mine. When you communicate you should do so from a place of sorry that you are having a issue let see if I can help.I have email support enough times and with evidence of cause and effect to be laughed off for a few weeks later the thomas dev to post The issue i told them about was DEV issue.

Third My company does help desk /website and small Indy programming. If I did my clients the wayy PGi did it I would not have a company.
As a owner I talk to my customer all the time and each know what is happening with a timetable. I say sorry, I made a major file up. When I do I do not say it your fault fix your driver or update to the new IE10 if they have IE7. You work with a min spec in mind{ meaning min spec should get 30fps in this case} that all system will work correctly no matter the setup. Do you think the client cares if it only working with the best setup. No because he/ she would lose business. If that client call my support with in the first few hours of a roll out all hand are on deck just in case it goes wrong and it is roll back with in few hours till and fix is ready with our head in hand saying { I am sorry we will do better}. not 24 hours and it you not me attitude. So save your baggage for PGI because i now how to treat my customers right

ITIL can be a pain in the butt to implement but can provide some really good benefits if followed.

Network things are tough to QA (along with hardware) outside the "compound". I have spent many long hours in coffee shops painfully downloading software for UAT. I wonder if they'd be up for a few international volunteers?

Well... and how about random colored and shaped triangles blinking all over the screen during the combat???

Should I switch PC off and on? Or should I replace my monitor? This happening almost each match right now!

P.S> just please don't tell me to update drivers

When I thought about the logistics of managing an external, internationally based UAT regime, it hit me that it's probably easier to simply place a piece/pieces of their infrastructure overseas from themselves and add that to their exiting internal test regime.

The only temporary fix that I've seen for this is to alt+tab in and out. That generally works. Not sure if this is truly a driver issue since so many have updated their drivers. I experienced this (Nvidia card) with much older drivers and the newest drivers.

Unfortunately, most of times alt+tab does not help to resolve this behavior.

I guess I'll make another 2 months break of playing here. I'm done with MWO at this point.

P.S> there are other games too

Try removing shadows for the time being to fix FPS (it helped me).

I already set to 'Low', so no shadows and other pieces of art. I even switched to lower resolution. All no luck.
Most of matches maximum FPS is about 23-24 and dropping down to 10-12 during dogfight. And this on a PC which can handle a spaceship or calculate a simulation of nuclear blast.

Does anyone know if this will also resolve the "No chat" bugs.

I believe the majority of the chat issues were caused by the black loading screen bug, would be nice to get confirmation though.

Any news about the extreme amount of rubberbanding I and others have been experiencing since the last patch?

Thats easy just proxy it through an old windows 98 desktop running a vpn over an ISDN line. You should get massive latency!

Reinstall of the game fixed this issue for me

To all you Nancy's whining about the lack of detail: Stop it. There's a big green button that says Online at the top of the page. Be happy it's green. This easily could have been a silent patch and they decided to let you know of the maintenance window instead....Nancy's.
