OP makes a lot of sense. I agree ammo shouldn't be stored in the legs, and that momentum should be slowed in water.

While BattleTech will always be unrealistic to some extent, one of its attractions is that it does generally adhere to real world physics more or less.

Stompy robots powered by fusion engines with electrically powered myomer muscle, armed with particle cannons and lasers are fine, but I draw the line at the mere notion of a flexible ammunition feed tray running internally up the leg through the hip and into the torsos/arms!

Oh.

A series of tubes is too unrealistic for reality, so would never exist in a boardgame.

Didn't you know?

Bring collisions back, make the ammo easier to cook off, and let me give a nice explosive kick to the cockpit of a raven.

Btw... got legged in my atlas... felt bad man.

Sometimes I feel bad about putting ammo in my legs. But then I remember that I don't want my torsos to explode and I get over it. I dunno how ammo in the legs would work. Oh well.

Heck, in MW2 I put medium lasers in my legs.

I put machineguns in my legs, because machinguns.

To quote what I wrote in the PA forum thread for this game:

Welcome pilot to the new Mechwarrior Online OP. I understand that while some of you are seasoned veterans who know better, a decent lot of you think a futuristic, sci-fi, guided missile should be able to go further than a kilometer. Well rookie, I'm glad you're here because in this thread, common sense is lostech.

Thinking about the logic behind Battletech is akin to attempting to hold a conversation with Cthulhu.

(Or perhaps its via Osmosis?)

Osmosis is only for water, bro. You're thinking of diffusion. 6 f**king years of biology and that's one of the few things I remember. I WILL FIND A USE FOR THIS KNOWLEDGE!
All about the equilibrium - ammo in ALL the hardpoints!

While I agree with the OP in theory, in practice if ammo didn't get put in the legs the slots would most likely be wasted since most mechs are running DHS which also don't go in the legs. Also, on the topic of water slowing down mechs, in tabletop, water also floods sections that run out of armor.

Osmosis is diffusion through a permeable membrane, both can take place with or without water. Also neither can happen to bullets so the OP's premise is flawed.

I'm going to agree with the canon, reality and Vass; it's a series of tubes.

Sweet memories. Who needs arms when you can put all your weapons in the legs... maybe some in the CT... then you're set to go.

This! ArrowIV, ERPPC, 12 MG Atlas.
Solo drop on instant action against a lance of UrbanMechs.
I was 12 at the time. I still remember this build... I have no idea what my other builds were from back then. But I will never forget launching cruse missiles and giant ********** of lightning at range and closing up while sandblasting what was left with the mgs.

i liked the original Wolverine; it actually walked around with ammo in a freaking suitcase it carried in the off-arm.

That's because it was a... borrowed design. The original was actually carrying a giant pistol in it's hand and didn't have a feed from internal ammo.
