Oooh. That's nifty! Thank you! Does it take long to earn the ''C'' Bills to buy a mech? Or is it better to just buy it outright with real money? NVM Apparently you need both... :/
We are in a time before the clan tech is spread among the inner sphere. There are no omni-mechs that can be easily changed out with anything. The Inner Sphere mechs have a hard-point system. Ballistics go in B slots. Energy go in E slots. Missiles go in M slots.
When you go to buy a mech, you'll see a list of hardpoints on the right.
Highlighting the hardpoint (Missile for example) will pop up numbers that tell you where the hardpoints are.
Note, you do not "need" both to buy a mech. You can buy a mech with "Either" MC

is for rich people who don't want it now instead of grinding for the cash or people who want to support the game. Personally I use mine for hero mechs, paintjobs and mech bays.
Team 'Merika!
While cookie cutter builds are good, I recommend straying from the norms and experimenting. Some builds while very unlikely do prove to be excellent. For example the flamer / MG / AC-10 Jager. People say flamers and MGs are useless, and damage-wise they are. However the psychological effect is devastating. Flamers disorient you by hazing you down and making you unable to see. For some reason they rapidly shut down splat cats, too, which is an added bonus. Add to this the AC-10s tearing through armor, and the MG's peppering pelting sounds become a lot more than a "OMG OMG OMG" panic-inducing weapon when it starts causing internal ammo explosions. I don't recommend it for everyone, but it works great for me.
Good luck!
