No worries, We'll see you in late August / September / whenever they release.

The people here who are buying in early with the founders packs are people who can afford to do so and want to support the game. ::shrug::

Yes, the Founder'S isn't really that much about getting extras and getting early in game. It's mostly about supporting the revival of an old franchise on the PC that was nearly dead for about 10 years.

You are missing my point, I want to support the game early and get the $120 founders package but there just isnt enough gameplay videos and information available for me to be willing to risk it. I have been burned too many times by games that looked promising but ended up not being very good.
If the gameplay is good what reason is there to not release more videos or lift the nda on the beta testers.

This is money that could be taken away from wot and an excellent opportunity for game growth.

Well, see, then the Foudners Pack is not for you.
it's not just about this game. It's about the whole franchise.

And if 120$ is too much for you, who stops you from going for the 60$ or 30$ packs?

Once again you miss the point, its not about the money. No matter how much i love a franchise i would be unwilling to blindly shell out money without even knowing if it is good or not.

If the game is good why not show us more of it. I am not asking for a lot here, just some more gameplay examples so i know that my money is well spent.

Wot is a perfect example of how a more open policy about ndas and betas can help, i probably would of never even known about the game had it not been for that and they can thank their policies directly for my investment into their game (nearing $1k at this point).

MWO could be the successor to wot for me if the game is good. All im asking for is some more information about the game.

Awesome, thread, very helpful, thanks! I have been trawling through trying to find this info from various places, without much success.

What I would still like to know is when the CBT invites are scheduled to be sent out. A bit like a raffle or lottery, its something to get excited about.

@Loose Sausage
Well, again you are missing the important point. The packs are for people who trust PGI completely in producing a good game and if you don#t feel like this, the Packs are not for you, sorry.
Besides: There's plenty to go around if you are willing to read and not just watch. Dozens of Dev Q&As, Blogs etc.

And lastly: The NDA is there because the Devs are (probably) testing out many things. Now if they release videos with said stuff, peopel will just start speculating like wild and then they feel cheated if it is not in there. Today's discussion about Third Person View and the Lasers shows this.

@Wossername
There is no schedule us Non-PGI employees know about. Part of the lottery is waiting for the next invites to come around. :D

The point is that they're losing potential revenue and word of mouth advertising.

is it just me? i mean dont get me wrong, i loved MW4,3,mercs,2,1... well no i dont think i ever played 1, maybe, its hard to remember back that far.
I loved mechcommander1,2. Im having a hard time understanding why the information about this game already released, even if it isnt all encompassing, doesnt make you want to buy it. i mean doesnt this game already look better than its predecessors?

I have the biggest question something that wasn't covered but for the kiddies under 18 and if they we're able to get there hands on enough money and pre-ordered the game and got the beta invite yesterday, would they still be able to play or would they be illegally signing the NDA?

And if they have gotten a parent's permission and supervision would they be able to sign this contract still or would it be still in violation?

Obviously this is something only PGI can answer for sure, since I'm not a legal expert.
But personally I would say no, it would not work, since you are not of age and can not sign a legal contract. As far as I know, even parents permission/supervision does not change anything in this case. But it would possibly depend on where you live.

Besides of that:
Since all Founders will be getting their Founders Stuff after the reset to Open Beta completely anew, It would still be senseful to buy the Pack if you have the money saved for it.

Yeah little brother can't legally get in but maybe if you get access you can let him try it or look at it while you play.

In regards of not buying the game i'm guessing that at the moment they are still in early stage of beta and compared to what the final product will be alot of systems aren't not in place yet.

I picked up the $60 pack and i'm based in the UK so double trusting of me as it's going to be US based servers i think in the beginning and the ping could be bad who know's.

All about faith but a new battletech game is something the gamer market really really wants in my mind.

There are no shortage of "old timers" like me that have been with the franchise since the 80's.
$120 is a thank-you for our Mech past and all the experiences we've had with the franchise since the table top to all the various platforms.
It's an investment in a common dream to see the MechWarrior franchise once again capture the imaginations of a generation.

I've been known as "TheMechwarrior" in an online capacity since 2002.
This is the time for all the fanboys out there like me to become founders!
Become immortalised in the MechWarrior franchise and become the Legend you were destined to be!
The founders pack was meant for us...and the enlightened :D

For everyone else no pressure, if you don't feel the love in the room then just wait until August...

Cheers,

Mech.

We're missing the point.. he doesn't actually want to be a founder.. because a founder is, at this stage even without more gameplay videos (of which there are plenty), without more screenshots (of which there are plenty), without more developer statements (of which there are plenty), and so on; someone who is willing to act on this available information and put their hard earned cash down on the line in support for the game. A founder is not "pre-ordering" the game, a founder is not "buying" the game, a founder is not paying for beta key. A founder is a founding member of this institution called MWO.

What he is, is someone with doubts that forgoe his ability to pay for something he "hasn't seen".. "hasn't played".. "hasn't witnessed first hand".. and therefore by that very definition is not a founder.

No amount of whinging is going to get you early access to the game so you can "try before you buy".. you either pay or you don't.. no one is forcing you to. 10,000 people have already paid for Legendary, another 5,000 have paid for Elite.. and around 1,000 have paid for Veteran.. that's over 1.5 million in "sales" of founders packages.. I don't think they are going to bend to will of one little person who isn't, by the very definition they have applied to themselves, a founder.

See you in a few months, non-founder.

Thanks for all of the information, this was a helpful thread. I threw down the kwan because this game has a big place in my heart from when I was a kid playing Mech Warrior and the Clan Ghost Bear pack which I loved and all of the incarnations since. I just wish there would be a single player mode as well as the multi, but with F2P I understand. Maybe let us dingbats pay for single player story mode. I know I would.

Thanks,

JuJu

The MechWarrior's are all Legendary! ...and the most accurate portrayal of any sci-fi theory of how the human race will evolve and up in the distant future. I may have played MW 1 when I was little I cant remember, but I do remember getting a demo disk for Windows and playing MW 2 with my little brother and being "addicted" to game...it was the first game that hooked us to gaming. It's progress over the years has been phenomenal.

So when MWO introduced its initial trailer on youtube, I have been waiting ever since to for this next generation of MechWarrior to come out. Paying for a founders package was an easy decision, if there were more available packages with more mech's and everything, Id fork over my money as if it were monopoly money and didnt mean a thing even if my child couldnt eat and we couldnt pay the utility bills.

I would have to say the majority of people who have a founders package are seasoned vets of the game like me. That know the worth of the game and want to be apart of this epic history and lineage of MechWarrior.

p.s. I dont have kids and wouldnt ever sacrifice their well being for anything.
