Lancemate: Lance leader,i...no that can;t be right.

Lance Leader: Lance 1 report! what do you see?

Lance 1: it looks like...an Urbanmech.

Lance Leader- Say again Lance 1, scanners show that thing moving at a ludicrous speed. No way it's an Urbie

Lance 1: Sir... it's gone Plaid!

If Spaceballs designed battlemechs...merchandising!

I voted v1, since it is decent, and I like v2 as well, but the proportions on v2 just seem a bit off. The Urbanmech should be a little bit taller than v1, and v2 just makes the proportions even worse by spreading its sides out too far relative to its torso height. Plus, v2 would be suicide to put an XL in.

Taller?

If I recall correctly, the Urbie is the shortest "humanoid" biped mech in the game, standing at about 6 Meters. Since it is rather stout in dimension, and 1/3 its mass is in a giant cannon, it would be notably shorter, and chubbier, than a Spider, OR Commando. V2 would have less XL engine issues than one thinks, since it would be hidden by almost anything, its so short.

Can someone explain to me why an Urbanmech is shorter than a Hunchback? Is that in the rules somewhere? Is that even in the ART anywhere?

Because a Hunchback is 20 tons heavier, and not as rotund?

As for MWo, it masses the same as the Spider. And is much rounder, hence it would he shorter.

Voted for neither.

Both concepts are too much mecha and not enough trashcan. But in general a nice art.

Kill me now, before I have to endure 130kph Urbanmechs.

In short - I don't trust PGI to limit the speed of the Urbie.

No need to worry about that; if they go 130kph, they will not have the weight they need for the heavy ballistics. Sure, they could stuff an ERPPC in the laser arm, but they would need more than that to be successful.

I did a quick thumbnail, it looks like hell but it's got some charm, i'll do a more indepth one when time permits. I was muse'n over the urbanmech and there are 3 variants, but only just.

I don't trust PGI to make the Urbie not look EXACTLY like the Jagermech, and every other humanoid mech.

There's already an in-game Urbie, so the "real" one probably shouldn't stray too far off from that:

I voted for version 2, I like it a lot. However, I can't get behind them having crazy arm arcs if they're already going to have 360 twist - it would be pretty redundant.

Exactly, if it had 360 torso twist (I say 180 is probably enough) you could make the arms like a Jenner that just go up and down. Aaaaaannnd now you can stuff a ac20 in there with no lower arm actuators.
