Hi community !

Here my suggestion about "shuting down progress"

If you shuting down your mech, you will have the option, to repair "critical damage" or "destroyed weapons"

Every match you got an limited ammount of "mech repair tool" (short MRT).

Here the ammount of MRTs for each mech types:

Light - 4x MRT
Medium - 3x MRT
Heavy - 2x MRT
Assault - 1x MRT

You can use your MRT by shutting down your mech, after it you need to activate the repair tool.
This will takes 10-25 seconds to finish the job.
->At this time you CAN NOT reactivate your mech, so the MRT has finished the repair mode!<-

The repair tool, can fix CRITICAL DAMAGES (by restore some HULL points to fix the damage).
OR
The repair tool, can repair 30-60% of your damaged weapons, with a chance of 75% !
Repaired weapons will be come back online, but have just 50% of maximum HP left.
No armor can restored, only hull and weapon HP to switch it back online!

Some times, opponents has killed just my weapons, but my mechs will be fine in armor and hull, so with the MRTs i have a chance to come back in fight with a small ammount of my own weapons!

Destroyed arms, legs or another one, CAN NOT be repaired, just weapons on intact parts of the mech only!

-> Repaired of destroyed BALLISTIC weapons, can get 50% of rest of storred ammo (if only ammo destroyed, you can use 25% from destroyed ammo, left for use)
Same effect for MISSILE weapons!

-> Repaired of destroyed ENERGY weapons, has an DOUBLE heat consume !!!!

Simple cockpit effect:
At the shuting down progress, you need to search in your cockpit for the error, view on it and start the repair ^_^
Player on cockpit will press some buttons or something for graphic effect :P

What do you thing about this?

Give near destroyed mechs a little chance to get back in fight and make shuting down useable!

So lighter the mech, they more MRTs have it to use!

Sry for my bad english :)

I like your idea, it's another take on field repair. You may be interested in this thread which I ran back in December http://mwomercs.com/...n-field-repair/ It contains a poll and some very interesting and constructive reply's.

This is a man's game son. If you want regenerating health this isn't the game for you.

Sorry but in-battle repairs just don't fit into the vision that was intended for this game. Easy repairs are supposed to take hours, so doing that during a battle just doesn't seem right.

MW:LL has it in Mech Hangers, which is a man's game son.

Introduce any sort of in-field repair, and I'm gone.

no. i wouldnt mind seeing the mobile repair bays return on the battlefield, but something like this has no place in the battletech universe.

mech repair hangers are not the same thing. you dont get to just stop where you are at and repair with a mech hangar, you have to actually make it to the mech hanger then be stuck stationary inside it for a certain period of time. not just power down mech where you stand and magically regenerate armor/weapons.

Self-repair has no place in any MechWarrior game.

I'll be willing to accept repair bays that fix damage in minutes instead of hours since this is a video game but only in community warfare matches that are 30 minutes or longer. We should not however be able to heal damage just by shutting down, that's just not Mechwarrior style to to me. It works great in Hawken and I like being able to deploy the repair drone but Hawken is a totally different style of giant robots.

The problem I see with the OP's suggestion (besides a repair mechanic in a BT/MW game :excl:) is that you would need this most often after both sides have done significant damage to each other (unless you somehow got singled out and smacked around) and both teams have mechs destroyed. At that point, powering down and making yourself helpless might not be the best thing to do. I would love it if Community Warfare gives you prolonged battles/campaigns with you sometimes only getting a short time to repair and reload between fights, but mechs take a long time to fix even if its just to replace armor with no internal damage. You don't see repair trucks and engineers running behind modern armored vehicles to fix them in the middle of a firefight, and BT doesn't have the tech base for things like nano machines or robotic repair drones so that would be the only way to accomplish this. Would be cool if you could activate it and a orange jumpsuited tech starts climbing around your mech with a power tool, maybe give some use to MG's to 'disable' repairs ;).

Self repair is a no-no.

I think repair can have place if:
It's only possible in the repair bays - either near the base, or mobile maybe (but who and how will control its movement?) - and the mobile repair vehicles definitely should be destructible. Perhaps stationary bays too.

Only armor and structure is repaired. Not lost limbs/destroyed weapons and equipment replacement. I think about ammo refill as well, but it can alter the balance of energy vs ammo-dependent weapons.

I kind of like the idea of bodging together repairs to systems in intact sections with stripped armor, but those sorts of crits are so rare that it's not worth setting up some sort of cockamamie mechanic to reverse those crits. Anything else just doesn't feel very Battletech to me.

It's an interesting idea, but ultimately, I have to say no. I never liked the Mobile field Base concept in the previous games, because IMO, they ruin immersion. But on the bright side, if they did add it, I would probably drive my Jager-DD exclusively. 25 seconds is an eternity to line up cockpit shots with my dual AC20s!

Nope. It would just lead to new players spending half a match shut down, frantically trying to repair and never actually learning how to protect themselves in battle... while actually contributing.

I votes yes for the overall idea of repairs - I have suggested the idea of 'Jury Rig Repairs' and related skill trees myself.

The above posters make a very valid point about their concerns i) ruining immersion, ii) serious repairs taking too long.

- Any system of quick, in-game repair should be very limited in its scope. Limbs could not be replaced, weapons placed in severed limbs not automagically replaced.

You have to ask the question: what repairs are possible in a limited time frame, given limited tools, whilst on a battlefield?
